The difference in BASE ISO Range

So, with such a little difference in the base ISO range, we don’t expect much difference in the performance of both cameras. Yes, under LAB TEST results we may see some difference in DR due to the minor difference we have in the base ISO range, but in real-world usage, we won’t be able to spot any difference.

Buffer Limitation

Fuji X-T5 is able to save only 119 Jpeg in single bursts whereas the Fuji X-H2 camera is able to save up to 1000+ Jpeg in a single burst. CF CFexpress Type B also missing in the new X-T5.

Video Limitations of X-T5

The high resolution on the sensor allows the X-H2 to record 8K up to 30p (RAW  available). You can also select 6.2K video up to 30p. In 4K, you can work up to 30p with oversampling from 8K, or up to 60p with sub-sampling. In Full HD, the frame rate goes up to 240p with the High-Speed mode. With the Fuji X-T5 camera, you can record Full HD Videos up to 240fps but the MAX Video resolution available here is 6.2K video up to 30p. Undoubtedly the X-H2 is a better video camera with more features compared to X-T5.

No External Fan Support in Fuji X-T5 Camera

If you live in a western country then it’s ok, but in Asian countries where the temp goes really high in the summer season, X-T5 is left with no option to add an external fan to the camera due to the introduction of a tilting screen.

The ports of the camera and display screen are more or less likely to be the same.

Conclusion: Which camera should you buy Fuji X-H2 or Fuji X-T5

Core specification wise we have very little difference between them and so on the price tag. If spending $200 extra on a camera body isn’t an issue for you, than its better to buy the Fuji X-H2 camera. Since u will get a slightly better base ISO range, Better EVF, and 8K video recording capability.

Fuji X-H2 vs Sony A7C Dynamic Range Test Score

Fuji X-H2 is Fujis one of the most advanced APS-C cameras with the 5th generation of X-Trans 40MP Sensors. The camera core specs says the camera is able to capture 40MP files @ 20 fps E-Shutter, 15 fps Mech. Shutter and you are also able to record 8k videos with the camera.

Undoubtedly the camera features better core specifications than the Sony A7C camera. But, the only Major difference we have is the sensor size. The C uses a Sony 24 MP BSI CMOS sensor and the Fuji X-H2 uses APS-C Size 40 MP sensor.

Sony offers a Complete 1 Stop of difference after ISO 600

As you can see the Sony A7C camera gets a PDR (photography Dynamic Range) boost @ ISO 600. It clearly indicates the camera sensor also has built-in Low-gain and High-gain transistor/amplifier circuits (Dual base ISO) for a performance boost.

The Dynamic range of the Sony A7C Fullframe sensor is better than that of the Fuji X-H2.

When to buy Fuji X-H2?

If you actually want to have a Fuji camera, if you really require the 20FPS burst mode along with the 8K video recording capability then only buy the Fuji camera. Undoubtedly Fuji X-H2 is one of the most affordable 8K cameras we have but take ur decisions wisely if you use 8K then only go on Fuji lane otherwise for general-purpose photography and video Sony is a great option with an ocean of lenses.

Fuji X-H2 Is an excellent Camera but…

Fuji X-H2 is an excellent camera, but it does need professional light support to perform well when compared to competitors in the camera price range.

Fuji X-H2 vs Fuji X-H2S

The Fuji X-H2 features 40.2MP, whereas the X-H2S has 26.1MP.

The 40MP Sensor is a BSI CMOS sensor and the 26MP sensor in the X-H2S camera is a stacked CMOS Sensor. The stacked technology is basically implemented for speed, the X-H2S camera has minimal rolling shutter as well as more precise AF tracking due to faster Sensor readout speed. On, the other side we have an X-H2 Camera with BSI Tech to save its low light performance.  Yes, it is possible to integrate the Stacked and BSI together but the production line cost will be raised, and so the camera price tag.

Devil Lies in the details

For those who work in controlled light environments, the Fuji X-H2 camera is made for them, the camera will enormous amount of details in still images when paired with prime lenses and uses at its sweet spot (or near about that).  In video mode, the 40MP sensor generates 8K oversampled files for 4K and 6k, so you will be getting a high amount of details in 4K 24, 30fos files too. The 8K pro res RAW is also available (BMCRAW or PRO-RES RAW)

Details capturing ability / preserving more details at low light

The best 26MP sensor camera they have ever created yet is the Fuji X-H2S. For the first time, I was impressed with the AF performance of a fuji mirrorless camera, the X-H2S AF tracking performance is highly improved compared to the previous generation of Fuji cameras. Now, if we talk about the low-light performance of the camera captures an amazing amount of details even in low light.  The main advantage is the rolling shutter is also very minimal while capturing motion.

Auto Focus

The Autofocus of Fuji X-H2s is slightly better than X-H2, despite the fact both of them use the same image processor and the AF algorithms. Due to the stacked CMOS sensor in the Fuji X-H2S camera. The sensor readout speed is much faster than the Fuji X-H2 camera. That’s why the X-H2 remains limited to 24MP files while shooting at 20FPS.

Still Image Capture

The Mechanical shutter speed is similar in both the camera limited to 15 fps, but with the help of a stacked CMOS sensor and a bit lower res, the Fuji X-H2s is able to capture the images at 40FPS without any crop and full-time AF tracking active. The X-H2 remains limited to 20fps, but only with a 1.29x crop on the sensor, which gives you a file of 24MP.

Video Mode

The Fuji X-H2 does full sensor readout and gives an 8K  video recording option in ProRes RAW format (accessible through HDMI).

While doing 8K RAW, you have two options to record ur 8K RAW video externally. Blackmagic RAW or  Pro Res RAW. And if u have selected the BMRAW then u have to use the Black magic video assist (recommended) and when u have selected PRORES RAW u can use the Atmos Ninja.

The Fuji X-H2 camera is able to record any resolution internally (except 8K RAW). We have three triers of Apple Pro Res available for recording which includes

  • High BIT rate 422 HQ
  • Standard 422
  • Compressed 422 LT

Heat Management same as X-H2s: Both of the camera support external Fans. So, if ur shooting into hot and humid places you can buy this accessory. None of the cameras has any recording limit.

No 8K in Fuji X-H2S: The X-H2S doesn’t record 8K, the camera is limited to 6.2K 30p in the 3:2 aspect ratio (open gate), as well as 4K 120p (with a 1.29x sensor crop).

Better low-light performance – Fuji X-H2s with its lower resolution sensor is able to give better low-light video as well as still performance compared to the Fuji X-H2 camera.

Fujifilm Introduces FUJIFILM X-H2 mirrorless digital camera

Equipped with the new, 40.2MP “X-TransTM CMOS 5 HR” sensor to deliver the highest image quality in the X Series lineup

Valhalla, N.Y. — September 8, 2022 – FUJIFILM North America Corporation today announced the launch of the FUJIFILM X-H2 mirrorless digital camera (X-H2). X-H2 features the new, back-illuminated 40.2MP “X-TransTM CMOS 5 HR” sensor and the high-speed “X-Processor 5”, boasting the highest resolution in the X Series lineup in both stills and videos, as well as becoming the world’s first¹ APS-C camera to enable 8K/30P Apple ProRes internal recording. “X-H2 joining the flagship X-H family is not only huge for us at Fujifilm, but it is also especially significant for our consumers”, said Victor Ha, vice president of the Electronic Imaging and Optical Device Divisions, FUJIFILM North America Corporation. “X-H2S, which debuted in May, excels in speed, perfect for image makers who create moving content. X-H2 delivers exceptional image resolution and quality that are ideal for those creating images in super-high detail. We listened to our customers and took their feedback to heart, creating this

amazing family of X-H cameras that are tailor-made to their distinct specialties.”

Main product features:

New X-TransTM CMOS 5 HR sensor and the high-speed X-Processor 5

The exceptional image quality delivered by the new sensor is complemented with advanced features including minimum standard ISO125, and the high-resolution 40.2MP sensor of the X-H2 has a unique image-processing algorithm designed to enhance image resolution without compromising the signal-to-noise ratio, producing astonishing image quality.

the previous model’s 1/32,000 sec, to 1/180,000 sec). This allows users to

the fastest shutter speed available within the X Series (the electronic shutter has been increased by 2.5 stops from leave the aperture wide open in bright or high-contrast conditions such as on a sunny beach or a ski slope, or to instantly freeze motion down to a millisecond.

X-H2 is the first X Series camera featuring the Pixel Shift Multi-Shot function, which is ideal for commercial photography and digital archiving applications that need hi-resolution images with flawless color accuracy. Using the camera’s in-body image stabilization (IBIS) mechanism to shift the image sensor with immense precision, 20 reference images are automatically created and later assembled in post-production using the dedicated “Pixel Shift Combiner”

software. The result is a 160 Megapixel image, constructed from the total information available from each RGB pixel found on the X-H2’s new X Trans 5 CMOS HR sensor.

X-H2 also supports the HEIF image format, which delivers 10-bit image quality

in files up to 30% smaller than standard JPEG files, continuing to expand

Fujifilm’s reputation of delivering high-quality images straight out of camera.

Excellent performance for professional video production needs

With the new sensor, 8K movies can be recorded internally at 30P in 4:2:2 10- bit color. X-H2 has a heat-dissipating design — same as the X-H2S — to enable recording of 8K/30P video for up to 30 minutes². X-H2 is also capable of producing high-quality 4K (4K HQ) video, which is oversampled from 8K as it is being recorded internally. The result is an image that makes maximum use of the camera’s high-resolution sensor to record video with optimal image quality.

X-H2 supports three Apple ProRes codecs; ProRes 422 HQ, ProRes 422, and ProRes 422 LT, with the option to also record ProRes 422 Proxy³ to help streamline post-production workflows when editing in 8K.

With the help of X-Trans CMOS 5 HR, X-H2 is capable of delivering up to 2x of

digital zoom with little-to-no loss in resolution, when recording video in 4K, even

with a prime lens attached to the camera.

With Fujifilm’s FUJINON XF18-120mmF4 LM PZ WR lens, zoom movements

seamlessly transition to the digital zoom function when the lens reaches its

maximum focal length.

Combined with a compatible HDMI device from Atomos or Blackmagic Design, 12-bit 8K/30P RAW video output from X-H2 can be recorded as Apple ProRes or Blackmagic RAW, while the newly developed F-Log2 flat picture profile expands dynamic range up to 13+ stops, which broadens color-grading options in post-production.

Evolved autofocus (AF) performance to accurately capture details

X-Processor 5 features subject-detection AF based on deep learning technology that automatically detects and tracks a broad and diverse range of subjects, including animals, birds, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, airplanes, and trains.

The new, high-resolution sensor offers optimal ability to attain AF-S focus on a subject with high-frequency. Users can easily autofocus accurately in situations where AF-S is typically used, such as landscape and portrait photography. X-H2 also incorporates an AF prediction algorithm which has been improved from that of previous X Series models.

X-H2 is equipped with a focus meter as a manual focus assist during movie recording, allowing for more precise focus adjustment. It can also be used in combination with focus peaking.

The video AF algorithm has been optimized for autofocus accuracy, giving users a sense of confidence in using AF while filming 8K video.

Hardware and workflow that support users’ content creation experience

A 5-axis in-body IBIS⁴, made possible by X-Processor 5 and a sensing control function, gives the freedom to handhold in conditions that previously may have required support. In addition, the IBIS function enables the image sensor to be precisely shifted, for the camera’s Pixel Shift Multi Shot function.

X-H2 is equipped with a high-magnification and high-definition 5.76-million-dot EVF with 0.8x magnification. It boasts a smooth refresh frame rate of approximately 120fps and offers significant control over parallax and distortion which typically occurs when an eye position becomes displaced while using the viewfinder.

The body design is the same as X-H2S. With 79 weather-sealed points offering a high level of dust and moisture resistance, X-H2 is built to withstand the rigors of daily professional use and operate as normal in temperatures as low as 14°F (-10°C). The top panel LCD screen, adjustable AF ON button,1.62 million-dot vari-angle LCD monitor, and an independent movie recording button support comfortable operability.

X-H2 has one CFexpressTM Type B memory card slot and one UHS-II SD memory card slot. CFexpress Type B cards⁵ are needed to realize the full potential of X-H2’s professional video performance.

X-H2S / X-H2 can be combined with the file transmitter “FT-XH” to enable wired and wireless LAN tethered video recording⁶. Up to four X-H2S / X-H2 cameras can be connected simultaneously to enable the following operations from a computer browser:
