Canon R50 is a direct replacement for Canon M50 Mark II camera. The camera features a 24.2-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor is the same sensor that we have seen on the Canon R10 camera. that is capable of delivering sharp and detailed images, even in low-light conditions. The Camera is powered by Canon’s latest powerful DIGIC X image processor, the camera features 4503 DPAF points for stills and 3713 DPAF points for Video. Canon R50 supports an AF sensitivity range of EV -4.0 to 20. The Canon R50 has an ISO range of 100-32000 (standard ISO Range) expandable upto to ISO 51200. Tne entry-level budget camera also features EVF,  0.39-inch with 2.36 million dots resolution, on the rear side of the camera we also have a  3-inch vari-angle monitor is a touch-panel display with 1.62 million dots. The dimension of the camera are 116.3mm x 85.5mm x 68.8mm, with a body-only weight of 328g (375g with accessories).

Canon Inc. introduces the new Canon R50 camera – the ultimate tool for capturing stunning stills and smooth, professional-quality video. Equipped with a 24.2-megapixel full-size CMOS sensor and a powerful DIGIC X image processor, the Canon R50 delivers outstanding image quality, even in low light conditions.

Canon has designed the EOS R50 to be the streamer and content creator’s first choice for upgrading. Lightweight and compact, the EOS R50 can be used as a web camera, streaming live video in full HD at 30 fps, and can record podcasts and vlogs for longer than 30 minutes at a time. The camera also renders uncropped, 4K video at up to 30 fps oversampled from 6K and full HD video at up to 120 fps, and features a 24.2MP APS-C CMOS sensor and DIGIC X Image Processor, powering its automatic capabilities. For streamers, the Movie for Close-Up Demos Mode ensures that objects presented close to the lens, such as in unboxing videos or makeup tutorials, are properly in focus. According to the latest rumors that surfaced over the web via Canon rumor mill, the Canon R50 announcement is about to happen in Q1 of 2023. Canon R50 is coming under RF Mount and is said to replace the Canon EOS M50 Mark II camera.

That’s really a piece of great news but what happened to Canon R100 ? is it renamed as Canon R50 or we will have more announcements in near future ? only time will tell. It’s really not that hard to guess the Canon R50 will use the same sensor as of Canon R10 and subtle core specs to protect the R10 sales too.

Although the rumor is very new so we are waiting for more confirmation on this.

And more tip, If Canon and the team do not really put much effort into RF-S lenses, they should allow third-party manufacturers to produce those. That would be a nice start.
