The latest news about Canon R1 surfaces all over the web. Take a look at the important set of specifications coming out from the rumor mill.
Canon R3 Design
According to the sources of the rumor mill, Canon R1 will have a similar body design as the Canon EOS R3.
Large Display Unit of 4 inch?
There will be a large display panel on the backside of the camera, so rumors are expecting a four-inch display screen on a professional-grade photographer’s camera. Since for Cinematographers we already have a separate line of cameras.
45 Megapixel Resolution
The resolution of the camera is rumored to be around 45 megapixels, possibly the stacked version of the Canon R5 sensor.
Class Leading EVF
The viewfinder is said to be of the highest resolution in the Canon lineup, so we can expect a 9-megapixel viewfinder for the first time to be introduced inside Canon.
Global Shutter
Global Shutter is understandably far away for Canon, but yeah, the rumor mill is still speculating. So let’s hope we see at least technology similar to a global shutter or even a sensor with a fast readout speed that captures images without any significant rolling shutter effect.
Dual CFexpress card slots
The camera will have dual CFexpress card slots and one of the sources also said that at least one of the slots is Type-C. So it is kind of a mixed bag and we have to wait for more clarity
NEW Autofocus System
Rumor Mill is speculating on the arrival of the QPAF AF system inside Canon R1.

There are a lot of rumors that the Canon R1 camera was recently spotted at the Hiroshima G7 summit. We have many blog posts and videos going viral on this topic. But if you look at the image closely, you will see a Canon R3 camera-type body attached to a small rig 3884.
Many websites and videos are claiming that the top design of the camera has been changed and that’s the reason it is a Canon R1 camera. But, unfortunately, it is just a Canon R3 camera with a small rig cage and nothing else. We cannot find any significant major design difference between the two.

According to the latest rumors that surfaced over the web, Canon R1 will arrive sometime in the Second half of 2023 aka Q3 / Q4 of 2023. Canon rumor thinks it’s more logical for Canon to bring out the updates of outdated Canon EOS R and Rp cameras before than Canon EOS R1.
We do think the same way, Canon should bring out the updates of the Rp and EOS R asap.
But at the same time, as per the last tip we had, we do still believe the Canon EOS R1 camera development announcement will happen at the End of 2022 and its official announcement will happen on March 2023.
I will post an update if we get any

Canon just announced the Canon R10 and Canon R7 cameras. If you look at the chronological names then in the base area we have only two positions left after the Canon R6, and the first one is the Canon R8, and 2nd one Canon R9 camera?

2. Canon EOS R1 Arrival Date
We are keeping away the Canon R1 camera from our expectation list since we have a lot of info related to the upcoming flagship camera and we are almost sure, that the development announcement is about to happen in Q4 2022 and a full-fledged announcement will happen in the beginning months of 2023.
Canon EOS R1 Specification: Initial rumor suggests that canon does have working prototypes of the Canon R1 camera with a 45-megapixel stacked CMOS sensor. The camera can capture 45 megapixels of images at 30 frames per second with unlimited buffer memory and is also capable of recording 8k videos up to 60 fps. But yes keep in mind camera makers always test several prototypes of a flagship camera before putting it over on the production line. We are keeping an eye on rumors and as soon as we get more information related to them we will be posting on this website.
3. Canon R9
Now let’s talk about the Canon EOS RP replacement. This is not exactly an expectation. it’s a kind of a tip we have, Canon EOS RP camera replacement name is Canon R9. We are not expecting a big jump in the core specs of the camera. All it will have a mediocre update with Digic x image processor, and proper 4K video recording mode up to 30fps.
4. Canon R8
The possible name of the upcoming Canon EOS R camera successor would be Canon R8. And again if you talk about the specification then yes we are again expecting a mediocre update with an improved image processor and possibly the same sensor with updated microlenses
5. Canon R100
According to the latest rumor surfaced over the web Canon is expected to announce the Canon R100 camera in Q3-Q4 of 2023. The Canon R100 camera will replace the Rebel series of DSLRs. And will provide a more affordable option than the Canon EOS R10.

According to the latest rumors that surfaced over the web, the Canon EOS R1 camera may get delayed. Canon will remain limited to development announcements at the end of the year and the official announcement will happen on Feb-March of 2023.
Take it as a grain of salt, since if everything goes per schedule the announcement will happen in Q4 of 2022, but yes there is a slight possibility of delay.

According to Canon, the Canon 1DX Mark III will be the company’s last flagship DSLR. In an interview, Canon CEO Mitarai confirmed that Canon will end the development and production of its DSLR cameras, including the flagships, by transforming manufacturing to produce mirrorless systems only. It clearly indicates those who are expecting the Canon 200D Mark III or 90D successor will get disappointment too.

The story of the EOS-1 SLR series started back in 1989 with the original EOS-1. Five years later, Canon would go on to release the EOS-1N, which was followed six years later by the updated EOS-1V. From there, Canon made the switch to digital, with the first DSLR being its EOS-1D, which was effectively an EOS-1V with a 4.1MP APS-H CCD sensor inside. Since then, Canon has released 11 other digital EOS-1 camera systems, with the latest being its EOS-1D X Mark III, announced on January 7, 2020.
