The Game Changer - Cyclops DSLR Viewfinder

Adriano and Mark of Media Ball set out to the park on a Sunday afternoon to give us a different perspective on Cyclops and to demonstrate how it is a real game changer. No pun intended. The piece was shot using Cinevate’s Atlas 30 DSLR/Video Slider, Titan Swing-away Mattebox and Medusa Cage.

50mm lens - Who Wins? DxO Mark Review

DxOMark review: Which 50mm lens for my camera?

Wednesday December 22 2010
(This review has been prepared with Focus Numérique, a French photo news website)

Owning a 50mm lens is probably a must for any photographer. These primes are ideal for many good reasons. Mounted on a full-frame body, they provide a neutral field of view. Not a wide-angle, and not yet a telephoto lens, it is said to be close to human vision. On wide sensors, a 50mm lens can be the perfect companion for many different activities, including reportage, portraits, or even landscapes.

Mounted on an APS-C sensor, they become a short 75mm telephoto that is highly suitable for portraits.

In addition to their optical qualities, 50mm lenses usually use a simple optical formula. They are thus small, light, fast, and usually affordable, although at least one sells for more than 1,000 USD.
Many qualities, yes, but many models, too, and choosing the right one isn’t always easy. That’s why we have produced this short analysis.

Panasonic GH2 Review by Photography blog

Canon and Nikon may have recently made significant strides with their 2010 DLSR models, but they can’t compete with the GH2. The ability to continuously auto-focus during recording is faster on the GH2 than on Nikon’s cameras, with Canon lagging even further behind, and the sheer quality is visibly better than the GH2’s main rivals. click here to read the full review

Panasonic GH2 versus Canon 60D at EOSHD

IMAGE QUALITY

  • Canon 60D – 7/10
  • Panasonic GH2 – 9/10

NOTES ON IMAGE QUALITY VERUS 5D MARK II and GH2
Image quality is subjective. Some have valid reasons for liking the 5D Mark II and it’s full frame sensor. Some will love the 60D’s image. But Canon are now significantly behind Panasonic in terms of the overall video performance.

The Panasonic GH2 resolves significantly more detail with less noise than even the 5D Mark II at ISO 3200.

Canon 5d Mk II with WFT-4e II as transmitter at Kennedy Space Center

Check out as I use a Canon 5d Mark II with the WFT-4e II as transmitter at the Kennedy Space Center for the launch of Space Shuttle Atlantis. The video is NOT slickly produced as some of our other ones but shows us using a ipad to checkout the camera at the pad from 25 plus miles away. And we are only using air cards for the transmissions.

Canon offers mode dial upgrade for 5D Mark II and 7D

Canon japan announced a service upgrade  for the EOS 5D Mark II and EOS 7D that sees the camera’s mode dial will be replaced with a new locking version. The new design is similar to the current EOS 60D model, that it has a center button when pressed it allows the user to change the dial setting, and if center button is not pressed the dial will remain lock to prevent the changing of the mode setting while you travel.
