Canon 650D / T4i High ISO Test

High ISO test of Canon 600D published by FOCUS NUMERIQU, the noise of Canon 600D, Canon 650D and Nikon D3200 is very low / not visible at up to ISO 1600, so we have selected images after ISO 1600 to 12800. The brightness was set at 200 Lux during the test and the new canon 650D uses Canon 40mm STM lens.

Canon 650D High ISO Test
Noise is visible from ISO 1600 and lost in the detail begins at ISO3200. The color changes at ISO 3200 slightly, and the details become bit more less at ISO 6400. We can also see increased particle / color noise, noise can also be seen as not beautiful geometric patterns, at ISO 12800 Dynamic range is reduced, noise is greatly increased, detail is lost.

From FOCUS NUMERIQU – Translated by google
A quantum leap is taken at ISO 1600 with a granulation becomes visible and more blunt for details, but the image remains a draw for great classic between A4 and A3.

A cut above (3200), the grain is a little more visible and it just nibble the finest details. A new line has been crossed in 6400 with a slight color drift: the colors become pale and lose intensity. On flat colors, the grain becomes visible and provides a geometric structure unattractive. On the black background, it is possible to see purple veins.

In ISO 12800, the dynamics decrease, the grain becomes coarse in fact eliminating the fine details. It is, as proposed Canon, ISO sensitivity up really useful because, let’s say it bluntly, the H mode (ISO 25600) is frankly not good…

Canon 650D Review Round-Up

Many new reviews are coming above the surface, A quick reminder – What’s new in Canon 650D – The Canon 650D comes with new phase & contrast detection AF system, the Canon 650D is the first DSLR of canon to feature Full Time AF during video shooting and also word’s first DSLR to feature touch screen display, Let’s have a look what other say about Canon 650D DSLR

Canon 650D review published at tech radar, Tech radar tested Canon 650D sensor and published some important result
signal to noise ratio (SNR)
In JPEG images of Canon 650D look bit similar to Canon 600D, but the TIFF images (converted RAW files) of Canon 650D are better and have less noise at high ISO compared to 600D
Dynamic Range

JPEG images of Canon 650D shows better dynamic range than 600D but if we compare the RAW output of 650D, it shows a much improved dynamic range than the 600D.

Final verdict by tech radar

We have to admit, we’re pretty excited about the Canon EOS 650D. It seems that Canon has decided to stick with existing pixel counts (or close to them in the case of the 5D Mark III) and concentrate on making its DSLRs more user-friendly by improving ergonomics and adding new features…..Although we want to do plenty of testing with a full-production sample, the early signs for Canon’s Live View and video Hybrid AF system are good. Judging by our experience with the 40mm f/2.8 lens, videographers will find that it works particularly well with the new STM lenses.

Conclusion by Cnet UK

The Canon EOS 650D is packed with cool features, including a responsive multi-touch touchscreen and full high-definition video. It’s a serious package for a camera aimed at those who are new to dSLRs or want to avoid spending paying a huge amount. It offers better low-light performance in terms of resolving detail at high ISOs.

Good

  • Full HD video
  • Touchscreen with multi-touch
  • Dedicated video switch
  • Improved video controls
  • Continuous AF in video
Bad

  • Pricey compared to a Micro Four Thirds camera
  • Heavier weight and bulk not ideal for long periods of video recording
