We have something new coming from Kodak. It’s a tiny compact film camera Snapic A1. Kodak has uploaded the teaser video of the camera on their official social media handles. Question is, will it be just for joy and fun, or will it deliver some serious results like Kodak’s old-school point-and-shoot cameras? However, we have already covered the ultra-popular Kodak Charmera a while ago. The Charmera is a digital camera designed for Gen Z, while the Snapic A1 is essentially a traditional film camera.
The Teaser Breakdown: What We Know So Far
Yes, Kodak is about to announce a compact film camera, and although most of the core specifications are not yet known, as it is about to become official soon, a careful look at the teaser and the camera itself, which is clearly visible – leaves little to the imagination. While examining the teaser, it is clear that the camera features an ultra-compact body reminiscent of the ’90s Kodak pocketable film camera design.
It is very clear from the design: a fixed 25mm three-element glass lens, a clear step up from the plastic optics found in earlier budget models.

After looking at the new lens design and the fixed-focus system with a two-position focus switch—one for general scenes and the other optimised for portraits. This clearly shows Kodak’s dedication towards improving the overall optical performance of their film cameras. And for sure, they are improving the lens part of the camera by adding a fixed prime lens and a toggling focus mode to ensure tack-sharp output, without the fuss of manual adjustments. No more blurry group photos at parties.
Other highlights include:
- Built-in automatic flash for low-light heroics—perfect for those impromptu night shoots.
- Multi-exposure mode that lets you layer shots for dreamy double exposures, adding an artistic edge to your rolls.
- A crisp LCD screen for easy framing and review, bridging the gap between vintage vibes and contemporary convenience.
The sample images of the Kodak A1 camera is visible in the teaser, although it will be too early to comment on the sample images by just looking In the samples, which is obviously not very clearly visible in the teaser, but yes, they look very promising, and if you say, first look analysis, then obviously in the first look, the samples does look crisp in nature with a vibrant colour rendition generally that we see in Kodak Gold 200 film
Although the detailed specification of the Kodak A1 film camera is not out yet, there is some sort of possibility that it may hit half-frame territory (like the Ektar H35 series) for double the shots per roll. As of now, we are waiting for more information, but the design of the camera and the teaser look very promising to us.
No word yet on pricing or release date, but given the Charmera’s sub-$50 street price, expect the Snapic A1 to land in the accessible $40–$60 range, ideal for beginners or as a quirky stocking stuffer this holiday season.

Kodak, a leading brand in compact cameras, has announced a new market sensation, the Kodak Blind Box Camera. This tiny marvel, officially known as the Kodak Charmera Keychain Digital Camera. Just after the announcement of this camera, it has almost sold out in all the stores, except for a few. In this article, we have covered all the details. Searching for the Kodak camera keychain digital camera? You have come to the right place. Before we begin, let me tell you that this particular camera is actually inspired by a 1980s Kodak disposable camera, known as the blind box edition. Kodak is continuing the blind box series even in the digital age. The small, tiny camera brings a fun element of surprise to photography enthusiasts. In this detailed review we will explore everything, starting from the design part of the camera and the features that actually matter, the real-world performance and all this helps you decide whether you should pick this up and if it is worth adding to your key ring collection or not.

What is the Kodak Blind Box Camera?
The Kodak Blind Box Camera actually refers to the packaging and distribution style of the Kodak camera series, which is sold as blind boxes for around $30 each or as a set of 6 full collections. The box contains one of seven random colour profile-based cameras, so you can pick any of those you like, since we’re getting 7 cameras inside it, and the best part is adding mysteries to the entire excitement. You will also get a classic yellow Kodak-inspired look with some vibrant colours, so that’s the most popular camera right now if you have to add to your collection. Some people are saying it’s kind of a marketing stunt by the Reto Project, since the company licensed by Kodak to produce these. But the fact of the matter is, either it has been produced by the Reto Project or by Kodak itself, it is one of the most popular cameras right now, and it’s completely out of stock in most places and not available till November 2025.
Don’t get confused; the camera is not just a toy. It is actually a fully functional digital camera, and, like a pack of gum, it is very small. It completely mimics the experience of a single-use film camera, with some modern twists inside. While just after announcing it, it has become viral on social media, and it has been sold more than 10 times more than expected by the camera maker. This Kodak Blind Box Camera bridges the gap between analogue charm and digital convenience.

Design and Build: Retro Charm in a Tiny Package
Opening a Kodak Blind Box Camera is half the fun. First of all, I have to say about the packaging: the inner box has been branded with a Kodak signature yellow colour and it looks highly attractive. Now, inside each of the Charmera cameras features a retro-style compact body with funky bold colours, simple button layouts and a tiny mini viewfinder that obviously is of no use but it will at least guide you in the framing of the composition.
Key design highlights include:
- Size and Portability: Very tiny, compact and highly attractive at first look. This is also known as the Kodak camera keychain, one of the digital cameras on the market. But, don’t get confused with the keychain name, since it’s a fully functional camera.
- Build Quality: It’s durable and not fragile; the body is made up of hard plastic, and it feels sturdy when you touch it with your hands, just you have to take care of the lens part for scratches when you’re using it roughly in day-to-day use as a keychain.
- Variants: You’re already getting all the 7 variants in the box, from classic Kodak yellow to pastel pinks and blues, each evoking a different era of photography.
Keep in mind the budget ultra-compact Kodak camera is not waterproof, like the action cameras we have, so do not think about using it underwater.

Features and Specifications: More Than Meets the Eye
The tiny little camera, packed with a full set of features and an extensive core specification, just look at the set of core specifications you are getting inside your KODAK CHARMERA Keychain Digital Camera Blind Box Single Box:
| Feature |
Details |
| Sensor |
1.6MP 1/4″ CMOS sensor |
| Lens |
35mm equivalent, f/2.4 aperture |
| Resolution |
Photos: 1440 x 1080 (JPEG); Video: 1440 x 1080 at 30fps |
| Storage |
Supports microSD cards from 1GB to 128GB (not included; internal storage for up to 2 images) |
| Filters and Effects |
7 vintage filters, 4 custom Kodak frames, date stamp option |
| Battery |
Rechargeable via USB-C (cable included); up to 30 minutes of continuous use |
| Display |
Tiny rear LCD for previewing shots |
| Modes |
Photo, video recording, and playback |
One of the interesting things is that you are also getting customisable frames and filters inside the camera that will give you an authentic Kodak film look, specifically warm tones, vignettes, and retro borders. And you will be surprised to know that you can also record small clips of videos alongside the audio input. In the camera, you also get an option to add date and time to your images, like timestamps, which is perfect for journaling or scrapbooking.
Now the connectivity is very easy—you just plug it into your computer via USB and easily transfer all the files or clips that you have recorded inside the camera, no app required. It’s a direct file-to-file transfer, and later on, you can add it wherever you like. It’s kind of an app-free thing, so no need to worry about compatibility. For a Kodak camera keychain digital camera, it’s really surprisingly versatile if we look at the size of the camera, the price it’s available for and the set of features we are getting, supporting both stills and motion without complicated menus.

Performance: How Does It Hold Up in Real Use?
Yes, we are getting 1.6 MP of resolution, which clearly means it’s not its main strength. If you are looking for a true rival of your smartphone, then you have to look at a different set of cameras available in that similar price range, but this Kodak Blind Box Camera comes at a super budget range, tiny in size, and it’s all about embracing imperfections. The photos that you capture from this camera are dreamy, have a noticeable amount of grain while shooting indoors, which makes them highly authentic, and the camera adds a flavour of old film look, specifically the colours that pop while capturing outdoors, or in perfect light conditions, is a signature vibrant colour of the Eastman Kodak Gold Film 200.
Video performance is basic: You are getting 30fps at 1440×1080 resolution, captures smooth motion for short clips, and the audio input you’re getting is tinny from the built-in mic. The viewfinder there is to guide you for compositional framing, and the best part is that in such a budget range, we are also getting a little display screen on the rear side of the camera.
Battery life: The built-in battery allows you to capture 50-100 photos per charge. The battery life also depends on your usage—if you’re recording a lot of short clips, then it may end quickly. Recharging takes about an hour, making it easy to top up on the go.
Pros:
- Affordable and collectible, with the blind box adding excitement.
- Fun retro filters and frames enhance creativity.
- Ultra-portable as a Kodak camera keychain digital camera.
- No learning curve—point, shoot, and enjoy.
Cons:
- Low resolution limits print quality. Only for social media or digital sharing.
- Limited storage without a microSD card.
- Viewfinder is more decorative than practical.
- Sold out quickly, though preorders are on the horizon.
A perfect tiny little camera for having fun with photography, and at the very same time it will keep you associated with the Kodak retro colours.

Where to Buy Kodak Blind Box Camera
The super quick sellout of the Kodak Blind Box Camera isn’t surprising. It was quite expected from the makers to do so, but what was not expected is the 10 times pre-orders that they have received for this camera, and the estimated wait time in the B&H store is now written as November 2025. So you can also check yourself for its stock status on the different online stores, but fortunately, we do have some stock left at the other Adorama Store.

Is the Kodak Charmera Worth It?
The Kodak Blind Box Camera, embodied in the Charmera Kodak camera keychain digital camera, is a delightful blend of nostalgia, so don’t think about its usability or how it is going to perform against your smartphone; it’s just a plain set of emotions that you can feel directly in your heart. If you have ever used a Kodak film camera, you will definitely love the output of this tiny little camera, which gives you the old classic 35mm look and feel while capturing the composition.

Kodak announced new Photographers smartphone named Ektra. Let’s do some research. The Ektra camera was actually a film camera introduced back on 1941.
According to Kodak the new Ektra is a photography focused Smartphone. And yes it’s actually true to some extent.\Kodak really done a lot of work to design the control and interface of the Smartphone that resembles with today’s compact camera. As you can see the image the Smartphone features physical jog dial button where you can select the type of mode you want, including Manual where you can select exposure, ISO, focus, white balance and shutter speed.

The camera isn’t anything like Nokia lumia 1020 or highest rated Google pixel Smartphone. The module inside the Kodak Ektra is Sony IMX230 camera module used by Xperia Z4 Smartphone (Announced on May 26, 2015). The IMX230 camera module features 21-megapixel (MP) main camera with f2.2 aperture lens and 192 AF points for Fast Auto focusing and built in HDR recording capabilities.
As far as I know the same camera module is being currently used on Lenovo Vibe X3, Motorola Moto X Style.
The specification of the Smartphone is really impressive since it’s features MediaTek Helio X-20 10-core processor, On the rear side of the Smartphone we have 21 MP camera as we have discussed earlier and on
a 13MP front-facing camera, 3,000mAh battery, 3GB RAM, 32GB in-built storage, and a USB Type C charger. It will ship with Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Finally Kodak a given a new Megazoom camera to the world by pushing out the technological limits to a next level. So now we can say that Nikon P900 features 83X optical zoom only whereas that new Kodak A901 features 90X optical zoom.
The camera was on display from Kodak at CES 2016 show, I think Kodak aka JK Imaging has silently announced the new camera with a massive 90X optical zoom, as far as I have concerned they should invest a good amount of money in advertisement of such products, these type of products doesn’t deserve a silent announcement.

The camera can shoot in RAW as well as in JPEG mode, the camera also features built-in Wireless connectivity and NFC so you can use this camera from smartphone (iOS and Android). On the rear side of the camera we have a large 3″ articulating LCD screen and it also arrives with a 360º scan panorama mode to capture the entire composition of the living moment.
We will update you soon as we get any new information.
