—End of rumor—
We do know Canon is working on the Mirrorless Replacement of the Canon 5Ds camera. And as per rumors, Canon high Res Mirrorless camera may arrive Q3/Q4 of 2021. We will update you soon as we get any new rumor/news.
Take a look between the quick comparison between the Panasonic S5 and the Canon EOS R6 camera.
Panasonic uses a 24MP CMOS sensor and Canon uses 20MP FF Sensor. Both of them using CMOS tech. So, despite having almost the same ISO range we do expect in Still photography Canon EOS R6 will give us slightly better low-light performance compared to the Panasonic S5.
Canon EOS R6 – Best Camera for Shooting Still Images / Weeding / Event / Wildlife Photography
Canon EOS R6 overall is a good camera for still photographers. The camera features a Newly developed 2nd generation of DPAF sensor with blazingly fast AF as well as a low-res sensor to perform well in low-light conditions. Canon EOS R6 is also capable to shoot continuous shooting speed up to 12FPS with a mechanical shutter and 20 FPS with an electronic shutter with full-time AF/AE active.
Panasonic S5 – Best Camera for Landscape shooter and Studiographers
If you are a Landscape shooter or Studiographer and don’t need the blazing fast AF speed of the camera then Panasonic will help you a little bit more with the enhanced base ISO range and slightly more resolution than of Canon EOS R5.
Panasonic S5 – High-Resolution Mode ( For Studishooters)
By using sensor-shift stabilization technology, the S5 features a High-Resolution Mode to capture and compile eight separate exposure to create a single 96MP raw or JPEG file. Suitable for static subjects and when working on a tripod, this mode creates a more highly detailed and color accurate image than a single shot alone can produce and produces an image with a 12000 x 8000-pixel resolution.

4K @ 60p Video With Fast AF – Canon EOS R6
If you want a 4K capable Video Camera with Fast AF Speed than you should go with Canon EOS R6. Canon EOS R6 also features the latest 2nd gen of DPAF and you can record high-quality 4K videos up to 60 fps, along with Full HD at 120 fps for slow-motion playback. Both formats can be recorded internally at 4:2:2 10-bit and both Canon Log and HDR-PQ are supported for greater control over color rendering, and to suit high dynamic range output.
Panasonic S5 – Best PAL for Cinematographers
If Fast AF isn’t a big issue to you then welcome to Panasonic World. Panasonic S5 is an excellent camera that features DUAL Native ISO, it’s just like two different cameras recording the same clip at a variable ISO range and merging them all together to create Noise-free High-Quality Videos. According to the latest rumors surfaced over the web Canon is working on a High-End APS-C Mirrorless camera and will they will prefer RF Mount to introduce the APS-C Flagship camera aka true successor of Canon 7D Mark II.
Canon EOS R7 More Details
Canon EOS R7 – The name of the camera isn’t confirmed yet, but as per rumors Canon does have working prototypes of the camera, and once of the bodies carry 32 MP sensor of Canon EOS M6 II and DIGIC X image processor from Canon EOS R6 / R5.
We have already published the core specification of the camera a while ago. Canon EOS R7 Rumored Specification
Canon EOS M7 Mirrorless camera (almost same) specifications surfaced again over the web. Take a look at the new set of rumored specs below
Canon EOS M7 Specifications:
32mp APS-C sensor with DPAF II
IBIS
Slightly renewed DIGIC LSI
Cheap EVF, 2.36Mdots
Dual SD Cards, speed limits are the same as 4 years old cameras
12fps serial shooting, without AF active
4K from 24p to 60p, using all APS-C sensor sampling
1080p up to 120p (overheating at 120fps)
CLog mode for marketing purposes
$1599 price
The source who broke out also mentioned that Canon may discontinue the EF-M mount camera announcement(s) from next year and will start afresh RF-Mount Mirrorless camera.
The rumor isn’t look legit to me. And as usual, we know that the Canon EOS M6 II camera available at $1099 is capable to shoot 14FPS with SERVO AF (Full Time AF) without any issue. Then why Canon will announce a camera $1599 with 12FPS continuous shooting without active AF.
About discounting the EF-M series camera: Canon EOS M50 is one of the most popular cameras of Canon, And also helped Canon to gain more APS-C market share despite the presence of Fuji and Sony in the competition. As per rumors, Canon does have future plans to introduce RF Mount APS-C Mirrorless camera, but it doesn’t mean they will end up the EF-M camera line and lenses.
Finally, Canon registered the replacement of the Canon EOS M50 camera at the Taiwan Wireless Certification Agency. Once a camera gets registered, the camera makers roughly take 3 – 4 months of time to make it official. So, we can expect the arrival of the Canon EOS M50 II camera on Nov / Dec of 2020 is everything goes on schedule.
