The G3x is a very good camera. Focusing is slow and low light focusing incredibly slow. Otherwise a good camera. Mark 2 should address these issues.
I LOVED THE 600mm reach on the g3x and had been waiting since I used it for a week for a new version. Ended up buying the R in 2018 and their new RF 100-500 for Christmas but if they could upgrade it with some of the R6’s features(joystick, mirrorless, FF or close) I’d buy it in a heartbeat
Another problem with current G3X is that below 32 degrees it tends to stop working. It needs to be handle at least down to 28 and preferably more like 24 or 25 degrees. My wife uses the Canon G3x while I use the Sony R10 M4, which still works fine when the Canon stops working!
Not so many competitors to GX3 like Panasonic FZ1000 II, Panasonic FZ2000 and Sony R10 Mark 3, Sony R10 Mark 4. I think GX3 Mark 2 will be successful especially among birdwatchers and for nature photography. Good to have an upgrade soon as Canon Power Shot G3 X is 6 years old. An upgrade should have video 4K, higher native ISO (25600 ), viewfinder and can win with competitors or at least share the market with its 600 mm zoom ..
Any news?
We will post soon as we get any
I took some photos using sports mode. Does anyone know how to export the images separately?
Does someone know anything new about the G3X Mark II? Is to be expected at all. I beg it would be. The Dimensions of the body is the great advantage and no other camera could reach there at all.
So CANON – please push it and reduce power and effort to those big, monstrous DSLRs a little bit, if this is nessesary to give the g3 x Mark ii a shot.
Thanks.
It appears that the G3X is no longer available for purchase new. There are used ones online, but you never know exactly what they’ve been through. This is upsetting, because wouldn’t they keep the original available until the release of the Mark II? I’m beginning to truly believe that Canon has abandoned this camera completely. It’s a shame because their other 1″ sensor cameras have tiny zoom lenses that are insufficient for wildlife and distant scenery, and the primary Sony competitor is massively more expensive…
Fingers crossed.
Hi Cannon,
I am G7X, G7X II, and G3X user,
There are two PowerShot cameras we are expecting for so long,
G3X ii and G1X IV.
I know the shortage of semiconductors keeps those two camera delayed. And smartphones being a big treat, the consumer market still has a need for high-end compact cameras.
I just hope the new chip can catch smartphone speed with algorithms like HDR, multiple exposures, and 4k 120fps.
Pls, give us a hit when that two flagships will be launched.
The semiconductor industry shortage is no longer an issue. I love my g5xmk2 and would jump on a g3xmk2 with a the same features and IQ as the g5xmk2 but with 600mm reach. Personally I’d be ok if it were 35, 50, or even 70 at the wide end if they could boost aperture and IQ at the long end. Price is not a concern, as long as it’s under $1k.
