Canon EOS R5 Camera Price

Lates rumors coming from Australia, The Australian retailer Camera Warehouse listed Canon EOS R5 camera with a price tag of A$ 10,499. If we convert it to US dollars then we have to pay US$ 6,750 ( INR Rs/- 5,09,557).  The price of the camera is expected to be somewhere around the price of Canon 1DX Mark III.

Actual Price or Quick Marketing Research?

May be Canon want to know the feedback of consumers before they actually put the price tag over the camera.  Btw, I was expecting the price tag of $4000  (+- $500).

Canon EOS R5 Specification

I the Price is not around 4.000,00 Euros (4.500,00 Euros max.), then nobody will buy the camera. We are photographers and don’t Need 8K and don’t want to pay for it.

If we don’t see the Dual Gain Output (DGO) Sensor in the camera, then a price over 4.000,00 Euros will kill the sales.

What do you mean “we”, kemosabe?

The EF mount is really, really popular in video work on $10K+ cameras. The old EOS 5D Mark II sold about 60% into “primarily video” work. So no, this isn’t necessarily the camera for anyone shooting stills only. But that hasn’t been Canon’s focus for quite some time. Even with the crippled video in more recent models, I think that was by necessity, not choice. They just didn’t have their tech game together. If this thing is real, if there’s big hidden asterisk, no “cripple hammer” nonsense, this will be a hit. Even at $4,000-$6,500.

If this price is correct, it is about time to celebrate… specially if you are Sony stakeholder. No matter how much I like Canon having spent 20 years with them, if they offer R5 at 6500 dollars, I am going to get a 7RIV for half that price.

Its about time all camera makers started to cater for those who only want to take still photos. This will make the cameras cheaper and will sell more units. I certainly will not be looking at the canon anymore but at the Sony models as they are more affordable.

  • I don’t know where this prize tag comes from but If they are waiting for photographers (Maybe Canon want to know the feedback of consumers ….) to set the price to, let’s make it lower so we finally win one battle. Let’s say $3,500

Let’s face it, the May 2o2o date seems to me to be nothing more than an ILLUSION, an optical illusion. The typical mirage in ½ of the desert where the object in desire and refreshing, in this case the R5 never comes, never materializes.
