The following text was forwarded to us via a anonymous email….
A friend of mine has just been ‘brought’ over to Canon from Nikon and is being considered as a potential tester for the 5DIV
There are multiple MP variants but the two my friend mentioned were 18mp and 24mp, with the former more a field experiment in gauging affect on AF speed, buffer management.
The 24mp seems to be the target though but 8fps seems to be out of the question.
PS, another interesting tidbit is that the 3D tracking in the Nikons are experiencing similar issues to what some 7Dii users have mentioned.
That’s all I know.
P.S. if you doubt my credibility, I can totally understand. But do note that this is my first time I have ever been privvy to a pro on this guy’s level and he is quite an accomplished tog
Same kind of rumor surfaced over the web via Northlight website, take a look at the test below…
There is still a mix between 18 and 24MP. 24MP is the likely final outcome, with the lower MP sensor testing AF speed and buffer management issues (less than 8FPS is the likely shooting speed).
Again a email we have received few hours ago
It’s likely that the 5D Mark IV will be announced in 2015, but shipped in the first or second quarter of 2016. Today I expect that the 24 megapixel sensor prototype hit the market and not the 18 megapixel prototype. The 5D Mark IV get a modified version of the 1DX Mark II AF system and 4K video recording and the timelapse function from the 5DS(r). I guess that a lot of photographers love the upcoming 5D Mark IV.
We are not confirmed that both of us are getting information from same source or a different one, however one thing is very clear that rumors are pointing towards the existence of two different prototypes of Canon 5D Mark IV camera, one version of 5D Mk IV carries a 18 MP Fullframe sensor and the other body have have 24 Mp fullframe sensor, however the source also says that the 24MP camera body is limited to 8fps of burst mode only… at the present moment we have very limited amount of information available, We will update you soon as we get any more information.
