DxOMark now started its mobile section for cellphones, smartphones and digital tablets, mobile image quality data will become available form next few weeks.
Mobile image quality is now superior to that of 5-year-old compact cameras
Mobile phone image quality has also made considerable progress – for example, the image quality of the Nokia 808 PureView, in first place in the DxOMark Mobile rankings for still photos, is superior to that of a 5-year-old compact camera. And as for video, the best mobile tested in this category, the Samsung Galaxy SIII, outperforms the Canon Powershot 100.
For taking awesome videos, the best mobiles have an incredible advantage over quite recent DSCs
“Of the dozen mobile devices that we have already tested, some have already attained a significant level of image quality,” said Frédéric Guichard, Chief Scientific Officer for DxO Labs. “However, the increase in sensor resolution and the miniaturization of pixels has introduced new problems well-known to photographers, such as digital noise. Our detailed test results will allow consumers to analyze all of the intrinsic qualities of mobile cameras.”

Latest news coming from DxOMark Lab, canon 650D / T4i score is out now and the overall score is less than the old 600D / T3i DSLR, the results are very disappointing for Canon fans and 650D owners.
From DxOLab
When we first heard the announcement about the EOS 650D and its new sensor, we hoped to see a gain in image quality sensor performance, but the Canon EOS 650D’s sensor scores have left our hopes high and dry. Clearly this 18 Mpix sensor’s only new feature is its hybridized autofocus (which includes the specialization of certain photosites)……………………….. For the EOS 650D’s sensor, however, even its hybridized autofocus cannot deflect the conclusion drawn from our DxOMark test results: “same old, same old.”
The test process of DxOMark mark is a matter of discussion, but canon technical adviser chuck westfall is never happy with the Canon sensor scores.
