Sensor:- Sony DSC-RXIR II has a back-illuminated 35mm full-frame Exmor R CMOS sensor with 42MP resolution which more than its predecessor DSC-RXIR.

Not only resolution the new sensor uses BSI / back-illuminated sensor, with the help of BSI tech the camera will feature improve low-light sensitivity.

Due to its advanced image processor Bionz X, it maintains exceptional noise control under normal range of ISO 100-25600, which can be further expandable upto 50 – 1024002. The Bionz X helps the users to capture 42MP files @5fps whether the DSC-RXIR was limited to 24.3MP files @5fps.

Low Pass Filter:- Sony DSC-RXIR II has the world’s first Optical Variable Low Pass Filter, which supports the reduction of moiré caused by its high ISO. Due to its implementation, the users can manually balance the amount of filtration they need in the image.

Whereas RXIR has no optical low pass filter.

AF System:- Sony DSC-RXIR II sensor has 399 focal-plane phase-detection AF points which covers about 45% of the compositional area; by using the A7R II sensor it automatically gained the title of the world’s widest AF coverage on a compact full-frame sensor camera. While RXIR has 25 contrast sensors, which is very far behind of RXIR II.

RXIR II has 399 phase AF points is further fine-tuned its 25 contrast AF points, results upto 30% faster speed compare to its predecessor RXI R. Hence RXIR II can track the subject in full frame faster, sharper and with accuracy compare to RXI R.

ISO:- Sony DSC-RXIR II has standard range of ISO 100-25600, which can be further expandable upto 50 – 102400 while RXIR standard ISO allows you to set ISO between 100-25600 and the Expandable ISO range gives you ability to push your base ISO to 50. Hence the users get one more better to choose the Sony DSC-RXIR II over the RX1R.

Verdict: The specification of the recently announced Sony RX1R II is far better than of the old Sony RX1 R camera, the new camera features better sensor with hybrid AF system and BSI technology that will give you more details / ISO range while shooting in low light condition.

The other major advantage is introduction of high quality OLED  will help you in shooting in harsh sunlight.
