Announcement on Photokina 2018 ?
According to latest rumors the Sony A5 / Affordable fullframe mirrorless camera is expected to arrive on Photokina 2018. But at the same time the source is new and hence take this rumor with a grain of salt.
The rumor isn’t new and floating on web from past few years that Sony Affordable fullframe Mirrorless camera is coming.

It’s just an anti X-T3 rumor/pre-announcement. Nice marketing trick from Sony.
It might be a marketing trick, against Fuji’s X-t3.
But, anyway . . . AF lenses are huge and heavy. Fujifilm wins here.
If I want big lenses, then bigger sensor of GFX has much better IQ.
So, Fuji wins again.
The first manufacturer to make a more affordable FF camera (such as in Nikon D7500 price range) will do well out of sales, so I hope this rumour is true. The “entry level” full frames – A7iii, Z6, and R are all way of the price range for most ILC customers. The big question is what should be cut? Hopefully not image quality and IBIS. Maybe there will be no EVF? Or maybe video specifications will be cut?
Yuck, worst body design on the market so wouldn’t matter if the camera was $500 still wouldn’t touch it with a barge pole.
