  • There is a small problem with your test. The Fuji example is underexposed compared to the other samples, thus the noise in the dark areas of the image – the most problematic noise in some ways – is masked since the entire area is black. You can’t have visible noise when the area is black. By exposing differently in the other images from other cameras and making this area gray instead of black you have revealed more noise in them.

Don’t imagine any anti-Fuji bias on my part. I own the X-E1 and like it a lot, and it does perform surprisingly well in low light conditions. I just think you need to equalize the exposures if you want to compare “apples to apples.”

    Take care,

    Dan

I’m story, but I fail to comprehend anyone shooting any of these models at any higher ISO than 3200 and still expecting high-end, full-frame DSLR results. I too have the fuji xe-1 and when coupled with the image-stabilized 18-55 zoom it captures exceptional low-light shots up to 1600, and 3200 in real darkness. It’s been said before, but if one needs to shoot at ISOs of 6400-25,000 get a flash, tripod, or wait for the sun to come up.
