Finally, we are getting more confirmation about Nikon’s upcoming cinema camera with Z-mount. We already mentioned in the post we published on November 27, 2024, that the Nikon RED cinema camera will arrive in Q4 of 2025, and the design is inspired by the RED V-Raptor.
Now, suddenly, RED sent out an email offering users the opportunity to upgrade their Raptor camera with a Z-mount. The list of the camera names shared in RED emails are

- V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount Production Pack (V-Lock)
- V-RAPTOR [X] Z Mount Production Pack (Gold Mount)
- V-RAPTOR [X] 8K VV Starter Pack
- V-RAPTOR [X] 8K VV Production Pack (V-Lock)
- V-RAPTOR [X] 8K VV Production Pack (Gold Mount)
- V-RAPTOR XL [X] 8K VV Production Pack (V-Lock)
- V-RAPTOR XL [X] 8K VV Production Pack (Gold Mount)
As you probably already noticed, the first three cameras are listed as RED for Z Mount. Now we are waiting for an official confirmation from Nikon, or they will keep it in their silent update list? we don’t know at this moment. At the very same time, they should also announce the Cinema Lenses roadmap soon, as they have for their Z Mount of cameras.
