Insta360 Ace Pro 3 Rumors Update: Is It Delayed?

Acepro 3 image

As of June 28, 2026, the Insta360 Ace Pro 3 camera remains unrevealed and unannounced. Although we have been waiting for this camera since late 2025, it was expected to arrive sometime between Q4 2025 and, if delayed, the first half of 2026. But, the absence of meaningful leaks, regulatory filings, or credible insider information strongly suggests the camera is delayed even further, and the announcement will be pushed somewhere in Q3-Q4 of 2026

But why has it been delayed? Let’s discuss them and the reasons that we have concluded appear to be more strategic than technical.

Ace Pro Series Announcement Pattern

Insta360 had established a fairly consistent release rhythm with the Ace Pro series:

Model Announcement Date Months Since Previous Model Expected Pattern (Based on History) Current Status (June 2026) Notes
Ace Pro November 2023 Released Original model
Ace Pro 2 October 2024 ~11 months Late 2025 (Oct–Nov window) Released Followed the pattern
Ace Pro 3 Not Announced Q4 2025 or H1 2026 Delayed No official update yet

This pattern made a late 2025 or early-to-mid 2026 launch feel likely. The fact that we’re now at the end of June 2026 with no announcement indicates Insta360 has deliberately shifted its timeline.

So you can clearly see from the table that the update was expected to arrive sometime in 2025, but it has been delayed, and we are still waiting for the latest analysis. The exact reason why the camera has been delayed and when we are expecting its announcement is still unknown.

Why Insta360 Seems to Be Holding Back

Nothing is holding back; it’s all about the strategy that Insta360 is deploying in the Ace Pro series cameras. The Ace Pro 2 is already capable of shooting 8K videos and high-quality images on the go at the very same time. There is no direct competitor to the camera, and due to the absence of a direct competitor, if Insta360 announces a new camera, then it will be a self-cannibalization of the series. That’s why it has been seen that in the fourth quarter of 2025, instead of adding a full-fledged update, Insta360 announced the Ace Pro 2 Arctic White Videography Bundle, which was launched to refresh interest in the existing model.

Additionally, Insta360 introduced the Luna Ultra in June 2026 – a new Leica co-engineered dual-lens gimbal camera. This move shows that the company is currently prioritizing resources toward expanding into new product categories rather than rushing the next iteration of the Ace Pro series.

Rumoured Specifications: What Actually Matters

The core rumoured specifications have remained consistent for months. Here’s a closer look at what they could realistically deliver:

Feature Rumored Spec Analysis
Sensor 1-inch 50MP CMOS (Leica-tuned) The biggest potential upgrade. A true 1-inch sensor would significantly improve dynamic range and low-light performance over the Ace Pro 2’s 1/1.3″ sensor.
Video 8K@30fps HDR/LOG, 4K@120fps 10-bit Expected refinement rather than a revolution. The real gain would come from better color science and noise handling.
Stabilization FlowState 2.0 + Global Shutter hints Global shutter would be a notable technical step forward for action cameras if implemented well.
Battery Up to 200 minutes (4K@30fps) One of the more credible rumors. Current Ace Pro 2 battery life is already good, so this would be a meaningful improvement.
Other Variable aperture hints, improved AI Still speculative. Variable aperture would be more impactful if paired with the larger sensor.

The 1-inch sensor remains the headline rumor. If true, it would represent Insta360’s most significant hardware leap since the original Ace Pro introduced Leica co-engineering.

Pricing Outlook

Most consistent rumors continue to place the Ace Pro 3 in the $549 – $599 range.

For context, the Ace Pro 2 launched at $399.99 and currently sells in the US between $349–$379 depending on bundles and promotions. A $150–200 price increase would position the Ace Pro 3 as a clear premium offering — justified only if the 1-inch sensor and other upgrades deliver noticeable real-world improvements.

Competitive Context

The delay also makes more sense when looking at the current competitive landscape:

  • DJI Osmo Action 6 (released Nov 2025) brought a larger 1/1.1-inch square sensor and variable aperture, but remains limited to 4K recording in most modes. It hasn’t forced Insta360’s hand.
  • GoPro has not released a true 8K flagship since the Hero 13 Black.
  • Insta360’s own Luna Ultra launch shows the company is comfortable exploring new form factors rather than engaging in a spec war in the traditional action camera segment.

Without a strong 8K competitor putting pressure on Ace Pro 2 sales, Insta360 can afford to be patient.

Realistic Timeline

Given the current situation, here’s the most probable outlook:

  • Q3 2026: Unlikely. Too little time remains and momentum is missing.
  • Q4 2026: Possible, but would require Insta360 to shift focus quickly.
  • Early to Mid 2027: Currently the most realistic window.
  • A 2026 launch is still possible if Insta360 suddenly faces stronger competition or clears its current product roadmap.

Should You Wait for the Ace Pro 3?

This depends on your priorities:

  • Need a camera now? — The Ace Pro 2 remains one of the best low-light action cameras available and is frequently discounted. It’s still a strong buy.
  • Can wait 6–12 months? — Holding off is reasonable if the rumored 1-inch sensor and improved battery life are important to you.
  • Want the latest Insta360 tech today? — The newly launched Luna Ultra may be worth considering instead, depending on your use case.

Final Thoughts

So it is very clear that the Insta360 Ace Pro 3 has not been cancelled. It has been delayed due to the absence of a true competitor. Although Insta360 has updated the Ace Pro 2 with a special edition and some accessories to keep it fresh, at the very same time, since the camera is already very capable and none of the competitors have 8K video recording capability in this segment of cameras, we have to wait for further updates.

Unless a major competitive threat emerges, we’re likely looking at a late 2026 or early 2027 launch at the earliest. We’ll continue tracking developments and will update this article as soon as credible information surfaces.
