According to latest update coming from Tamron. The latest firmware arrived for Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 Di III RXD Lens fixes the AF related issues of lens.

Ok, let’s start from the beaning. That1cameraguy first reported the AF issue and later on we have also received conformation from Max. That yes the tamron 28-75mm F2.8 Di III RXD Lens Auto Focus Problem, although it occurs rarely and the issues goes away once you switch on-off the camera.

We would like to announce that we discovered some issues with the auto focus of our new lens, 28-75mm F/2.8 Di III RXD (Model A036) for Sony E-mount, 35mm full-frame mirrorless cameras, released on May 24, 2018. The issues occur primarily when using the camera in video recording mode.
Rest assured, we are evaluating the cause of the error and for the solution to this matter. We expect this issue to be resolved very shortly and we will release a firmware update at that time.
Regarding the firmware updating process, please be assured that the process is accomplished directly through the Sony camera and supported by the Sony firmware updating function. As soon as the process is finalized, we will explain the process in detail on our website.

Just few days ago announced the 28-75mm F2.8 RXD lens. The lens features weather proof design, advance optics design with constant aperture support and Fast and Silent AF Motor. The price of the lens is only $799, which is less than half of Sony’s 24-70mm F2.8 GM series lens.
Tamron 28-75mm F2.8 Lens Review
Tamron 28-75mm F2.8 FE lens first review publish at German website and we are literally surprised to see the test results of the lens, since the image quality of the lens is almost equal Sony 24-70mm F2.8 Lens image.
Positives:
– The lens is compact and have less weight
– The Tamron is nearly as sharp as 2X more expensive Sony 24-70mm GM lens.
– The Tamron also comes surprisingly close to the Zeiss Otus quality!
– CA is not an issue
– Autofocus seems like to work as well as Sony native lenses
Negatives:
– Missing focus button on the lens.
– Missing MF-AF switch
– 28mm at the wide end and not 24mm
Tamron literally dropped a bomb, they announced a fullframe lens while having a 27-75mm focal length with a constant F2.8 aperture throughout the zoom range. The lens also features built-in steeping motor, for silent and fast focusing. The lens also features For AF drive, it is equipped with a sensor that detects the lens position with high accuracy and a stepping motor unit “RXD (Rapid eXtra-silent stepping Drive)” optimized for AF control.
The lens is ultra compact and small achieving a mass of 550 g and a length of 117.8 mm. The close focusing distance of the lens is 5.7 cm only.
In order to satisfy both beautiful blurring taste and high image quality, a special glass material XLD (eXtra Low Dispersion) lens, one LD (Low Dispersion: Loss Dispersion) lens, one GM Mold Aspheric) One lens and two composite aspherical lenses are properly arranged to correct various aberrations including chromatic aberration well and achieve compactness of the entire optical system. In addition, it adopts BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) coating boasting high antireflection performance and is pursuing stable resolution performance even in photography at backlighting throughout the zoom range.
The lens is compatible with Sony Hybrid AF technology and the firmware can be also updated is also possible.

Tamron working on Multiple high quality Prime lens patent. The Lenses include 300mm F2.8, 400mm F4, 500mm F4 Lens Patent. As we have said earlier also, patent takes two to three years to become a real product. So, it is possible we may see these lenses

Tamron announced the development of 100-400mm F/4.5-6.3 Di VC USD (Model A035). This lens is coming for the DSLRS specifically for Nikon FX Mount and Canon EF mount. However this lens can be also used with aps-c sensor camera crop factor will be applied.
