Nikon and Canon Open Service Points to Support Royal Wedding photographers

According to recent research by Nikon its is estimated 327 million photographs to be taken of the Royal Wedding. Nikon Service point is just few meters away from from Westminster Abbey where Kate Middleton and Prince Williams will marry on 29 April, whereas Canon service point is in New Oxford Street (1.4 miles away). Canon and Nikon will also offer free WiFi access for photographers to wire their images before and after the event.

Sony may take advantage from shortages of Canon and Nikon DSLRs

USA today reported that Sony and others may take advantage due to shortage of supply of Nikon and Canon DSLR system(caused by the earthquake and tsunami) ,

The IDC talks about the DSLR market, Read also Global Ranking of Camera Manufacturers

Canon has 44.5% of the digital SLR market, followed by Nikon at 29.8%, Sony with 11.9% and Olympus at 5.1%, IDC says.

Mike Worswick, president of the Photographic Research Organization, which buys photo products for 500 independent camera stores.

With the shortages in cameras, due to the crisis, “The opportunity for Sony, Olympus and even Samsung to grow a little market share in the next few months is clearly out there,”

Above the statics show the current market situation for top cameras makers in the world, Canon is still leading but Sony is just next to canon and improved its ranking compared to previous year, Nikon gained market share but still remained at the 3 spot after Sony and Canon.
