“A feature of TV lenses is powerful zoom capability. We’ve had technology for developing such lenses for a long time. There aren’t many lenses available with a 99x or 101x zoom ratio. Other companies can’t compete with Fujifilm when it comes to technology for optical design, or technology for grinding large lenses. Just few days ago in an interview with Amateurphotographer, Fujifilms operations manager Hiroshi Kawahara said that the company is looking into the possibility of a full frame mirrorless camera.
Kawahara also confirmed that the upcoming and some current X lenses is large enough to accommodate full frame, he also added that some current, wider, focal-length lenses would not be fully compatible with full-frame.
“Fujifilm technicians are seriously investigating the possible launch of a full-frame compact system camera (CSC) and are focusing on the sensor and processor that would be required.
Kawahara confirmed that the covering circle of Fuji’s current X-series lenses is large enough to accommodate full frame. But he accepted that some current, wider, focal-length lenses would not be fully compatible with full-frame and that this risks alienating existing users.”
