In the latest news Olympus just released 5 year growth plan to return to high profitability, Olympus will be concentrating on the mirrorless market and on High-End compact camera like XZ-1 and its Tough Series, see the details below
Olympus said on Imaging Business
In the Imaging Business, we will review our product lineup by allocating management resources with a focus on mirrorless interchangeable-lens cameras and high-end compact cameras while improving profitability. In addition, we will strive to achieve profitability in fiscal year ending March 2013 and establish a revenue structure that will enable us to continue generating a steady income stream in the following years. We will do so by enhancing productivity through the restructuring of our existing manufacturing functions, selection and concentration of our advertising expense and reduction of SG&A expenses through personnel optimization.
In our non-business domains, we will reconsider the optimal measures to enhance the value of each business and subsidiary. Specifically, after evaluating their correlation with our business domains and reviewing the best way to improve their value, we will take drastic measures to sell, downscale, liquidate or withdraw from businesses whose continuous operation within the Olympus Group is judged to be difficult from the perspective of profitability and potential. In principle, we will not make new growth investments in non-business domains.

We know that three industries Jobs wanted to change is television, textbooks, and photography. So finally after iPhone, iPad, iTV and now its time for Digital camera, This week rumor heated up when iLounge released its comprehensive New iPad Buyers’ Guide (see the PDF here), an overview of accessories, apps and other information associated with the new iPad, It includes a two-page spread arguing that Apple may be working on a camera.
page 72 —“Making the case for a standalone iSight Camera.” I’ll share more on this topic shortly, but for now, I’ll say that this two-page spread very nearly had a different title. We were tipped that this project is actually happening at Apple right now, but we didn’t feel confident enough in our source to call it a certainty; it’s therefore billed as speculation. Still, there’s enough smoke to make us think there’s a fire.
Now a bit more details, after the publication of Buyer’s guide, Jeremy Horwitz (Editor-in-Chief, iLounge) posted in his blog
Just as with the iPhone, Apple wants to give users a powerful tool that can be used to produce awesome results without needing to understand technical details, jargon, or legacy controls.
The product is planned for after the release of the iTV, and would leverage iCloud for storage
We noted that Apple had many camera-related job openings posted, including a reference to cameras that were to be built into “standalone peripherals,” as distinguished from “laptops,” “desktops,” and “handhelds.” (See http://jobs.apple.com/index.ajs?BID=1&method=mExternal.showJob&RID=82844&CurrentPage=4)
...and at last he also added in his post that
We found that Apple had re-trademarked iSight in April 2012, notably expanding beyond the prior iSight trademark’s reliance on “Computer hardware, namely, a camera requiring use of a personal computer for taking still and moving pictures”
Even iLounge believe that they doesn’t expect any Apple camera product to be announced soon until the long-rumored Apple television set makes its debut.
