It seems that there may not be a Canon R5 Mark II camera in the works, but that’s only because something even more thrilling is happening with Canon R5 itself. According to the latest leaked screenshot of Canon’s official EU website, The Canon R5 is able to capture 400 MP Images with the help “IBIS HIGH Resolution” Mode. As we all know the mode doesn’t exist now in the current Canon ROS R5 bodies so, we are expecting a major firmware update from Canon.
Since these websites are already updated in draft mode and the cache files are overflowing sometimes due to human error. We are expecting the announcement of the Canon R5 Major firmware update within the next 25 days.

We don’t need an update for the R5. We need a Mark II version of the R5 with an up-to-date sensor, better battery life, no overheating and so on.

Canon is very smart to keep the R5 going as long as reasonably possible. It is a great camera and the people who have one like it. Why spoil the fun by releasing a mk II right now? People are enjoying the R5 now. With the new firmware the pictures do look sharper. I’m actually stunned by the stabilization, it’s amazingly good so far. I’m sure that the new firmware is a response to the sales performance of the R5. It’s either good or bad, but I’d go with good. I think the R6 going to mk II was a response to bad sales there. Now the R5 going to mk II is delayed because the R5 is selling fine. If the R5 keeps selling it will be a long time to R5 mk II. That’s the reality is my guess.
