According to latest rumors canon mirrorless is coming in June 2012 with 4/3 format sensor, the upcoming canon mirrorless will not be a vintage designed range-finder camera (like Fuji X100 & E-M5), the look is bit similar to Nikon V1.

This is what i was afraid of. Canon’s missing the mark, worried they will cannibalize their dSLR sales.
Another m4/3 camera? Is that what the world needs? With another set of lenses? It’s covered, Canon.
What i had hoped for from you:
A compact system that would be embraced by pros and serious amateurs, to COMPLEMENT the EOS systems. I’ve had both 5D models, and various -1 and -3 film models. And, alongside them, i would welcome a compact solution with a PRO build. SLR or mirrorless – as long as it’s compact, built to not feel like a toy, and equipped with, at minimum, an APS-C sensor. Whatever the cost!
Not to replace the big cameras. Every pro already uses the ‘main’ camera and has smaller cams for other purposes. A top quality small camera is not a threat. And, if the price is as high as the SLR and there’s a new set of lenses for it, where’s the harm even if sales do infringe upon the SLR’s territory?
I’m so sick of the incrememental update strategy. We could have had an EOS3-ish digital by now. But, Canon is holding back, to add ECF as a feature when there are no further megapixel advances to be made. Or, when the AF is finally ‘right.’ I get it. But, i don’t like it and it doesn’t secure your position as leader. I say this, in fact, as a 20 year Canon shooter about to choose the D800e over the 5DIII. And, i’m doing it reluctantly.
As a Canon user going back 50 years to my days as a photographer on my college newspaper and annual, I’ve been patiently waiting for an alternative to Nikon’s JV-1 that would allow me to go to Europe on vacation with something smaller than a full-sized digital SLR. But as I’m leaving for Europe in August, I can’t take a chance on Canon getting competitive with the Nikon. So unless there is a better alternative, I’m headed for Nikon.
