Set of upcoming Nikon cameras that we will see in the year 2024 and 2025. We already have a credible announcement of the Nikon Z6 Mark III camera in the year 2024 and we are waiting for Nikon Z50 Mark II as well as P1000 Mark II.
1. Nikon Z50 Mark II
So far, we have an updated core specification of the upcoming Nikon Z50 Mark II camera, and as per the latest core specification, we may have the same 20 Megapixel CMOS sensor that we have seen in the original Z50.
Nikon Z50 II Rumored Specs
- Updated body design
- Expeed 7
- A vari-angle screen like the Z6 III
- USB-C
- Will use the same Nikon EN-EL25 battery
- Official announcement: soon (before the end of 2024)
- The same 20.9MP DX-format CMOS sensor
The launch of the camera is expected sometime in September or October. We will update you when we get any new information related to the upcoming Z 50 Mark II camera.
If the rumored specification is true, then for sure Nikon will disappoint a lot of consumers out there. But at the same time, we do know that the Z50, as well as Nikon Z30, and we can also consider the Nikon Zfc here, are the best APS-C line of cameras in terms of low light performance. So, it’s a kind of choice that consumers have to make between having a Higher Resolution APS-C camera from a different brand or a camera that performs exceptionally well in low light.
2. Nikon Z7 Mark III
The next rumored camera is the Nikon Z7 Mark III. Why are we talking about the Nikon Z7 Mark III camera? Since the Z6 Mark III already arrived, it’s obvious that the Z7 Mark III is in the announcement pipeline. The other thing that is supporting the framework of the rumor is a massive discount going on for the Z7 Mark II camera body. You can look at it in the store, and it’s giving more than $1000 discount on the body of the Z7 Mark II camera at the time when I am writing this article.
Nikon Z7 Mark II Camera Specification
- 61.2 MP FX-Format BSI CMOS Sensor
- Dual EXPEED 7 Image Processors
We expect a 60-megapixel BSI full-frame sensor in the Nikon Z7 Mark III camera body. At the very same time, we are also expecting 8K video recording capability, as we have already seen in the Nikon Z8 as well as Nikon Z9. Let’s hope for the best and wait for the upcoming Z7 Mark III.
3. Nikon Z90 / Z70
Nikon D500 camera replacement or you can also call it, Nikon Z90 Z70. (name not confirmed yet) is expected to arrive in the year 2023. The only details we have related to the upcoming Nikon APS-C flagship camera is
Nikon Z90 – APS-C flagship| Stacked APS-C Sensor| Built in IBIS | 6K | Arrival date unknown
So, yes we are waiting for the Nikon Z90 and lets hope we will see it soon.
5. Nikon Z5 Mark II
Nikon Z5 Mark II update was expected to arrive in 2023, but unfortunately, the camera has been delayed. The Nikon Z5 was announced back in July 2020. So, its overdue for an update
6. Nikon Z9S
The Nikon Z9S is rumored to arrive sometime in Q4 of 2025. The name is not confirmed yet, but there was a tip that Project Z9S has been started. The camera is coming to directly compete against the existing Canon R3 as well as Canon R1, with flagship capabilities and ultra-fast shooting speed, with a kind of lower resolution sensor similar to what we have seen in the Nikon Z6 Mark III.
But keep in mind Nikon is very smart with their moves; they have added a partially developed stacked CMOS sensor in their Z6 Mark III camera, not the fully stacked sensor, and the big reason was to save it for a future flagship model. So, yes, a 24 MP fully developed stacked CMOS sensor is still under development, and we will soon see it in the Z9S camera body.

LOL specs of these are rubbish. 3.6Md EVF in 2023 for a $3.5K+ camera is ludicrous, especially when the competition is 5.7Md and now 9.44Md
I am waiting for Nikon Z5 Mark II
For 2023 bye bye Nikon… Welcome Sony 🙂
No matter how much I am impressed with sony specs, i still have to look at the pictures. The colors are just plain bad. I see that sony has improved this some in the latest cameras but there is still a big gap imho, especially with skin tones.
Nikon Z9 ii is what we wait
Still holding out for a Zfc-ii.
