Nikon D610 vs Canon 6D - High ISO Test

High ISO test of Nikon D610 and Canon 6D, both are entry level fullframe camera, Nikon D610 is Just announced by Nikon that replaces the faulty Nikon D600 camera, Canon 6D is over a year old.

Nikon D610 image look bit underexposed when compared to Canon 6D at same ISO level, the color noise level of Nikon D610 is bit high.

The JPEG output of Canon 6D is really very clean when you compare it with the Nikon D610 DSLR, the Canon 6D DIGIC 5+ Image Processor noise reduction algorithm works very effectively even at High ISO range.

Also take a look at….

Canon 6D vs Nikon D610 at DxOMark Lab – The other most important thing is the Canon 6D score is lower than Nikon D610 according to DxO,

The DxOMark have generally gives low score to Canon cameras and I don’t know the real reason behind that, but let’s assume that even if a camera giving cleaner JPEG only (that’s DxO says about Canon camera) compared to its competitor then they should include a different Column in the table that will show the JEPG / RAW test score separately.

Both images is crap. Who will shot with 2500 ISO? Even they have FF’s they still use speedlights to shoot with ISO 100

    Dmitri,
I think you are missing the point, the above images show the blatant bias that DXO mark has towards Nikon cameras when they mark the D610 higher than the 6D and give it a better high ISO rating! As can clearly be seen by the above samples, the 6D is out performing the D610 exposure and noise levels even though the 6D is over a year old compared to the D610.
As to your comment that no-one would use ISO 25600, I agree, but if you were in a situation where you didn’t have a flash handy and needed to use it to get the shot, the Canon 6D would clearly give you a far more usable image than the Nikon D610.
DXO mark can twist things as much as they like, the proof is in the picture and the above clearly shows that DXO mark scores are seriously misleading to say the least.

Dxomark sports score is a measurement of RAW sensor ISO performance up to the point where there is resolution fall off. It’s not a measurement of how well the camera’s algorithmic process in converting to JPEG with Noise Reduction on but rather the SOC RAW Lossless with no conversion which is the only way to give an objective score.

What a dumb comment from the 1st post! How would you shoot fireworks then? use a tripod and flash with ISO100? Good luck getting any usable pictures.

The comparison is not well done. The Nikon image is clearly darker, it has -1EV compared with the canon one. Even with that handicap the nikon image shows less noise than the canon one in RAW. In jpeg, canon has the point, their in camera jpeg processing is the best in all aspects.

    Lets Hit FACTS. :

Nikon :does not make noise when picture taken under exposed.. like you take. photo of your dark bedroom.. no noise at iso 100…

Canon : noisy ass hell like 1dx ,,, lot off noise when underexposes even. at iso 100 makes noise if the picture has dark area :S

nikon is best if you dont know proper. exposure or there is variable light conditions..

canon is best if you know what you do and like erconomics .
