American company Square Trade done a drop test of Nikon D5200 vs Canon T5i, both camera dropped from 4 feet hight, cameras detached and flew off. Both lenses suffered damage and were unable to mount back on the camera. best part is after changing the lens both camera worked perfectly.

Thanks for the drop test which I dare not do it. But at the same time I would also like to see more of the test like nikon d7100, pentax k5ii, canon 60d….
I would not have done this test. This is something cameras are not made for. There is a multitude of other tests possible for testing the strength of a camera. This is nsiot the way to go about it
I would have to agree, there is little need for cameras to be tested in this way, we know what’s going to happen.
I would prefer to see a drop test between a Volvo bus and a Lamborghini, say from Empire State Bldg. height. Better still would be a drop test for politicians and celebs from the top of the same building; George Bush, Tony Bliar, and Bill Gates for example. Now that would make a nice afternoon’s entertainment, and it would also be a useful opportunity to test the AF on my camera.
