This isn’t look so logical since they are have excellent camera M4/3 range. PANASONIC filed a patent of 18mm f/4 for APS-C sensor. Do they have a plan of L-mount camera with APS-C sensor? no one knows yet. But Panasonic R&D team members are working on APS-C Mirrorless lenses, take a look at the details below

Update – The patent is is not of Panasonic APS-C Lens
According to our user
After his research work he has found that the patent is of Leica Elmarit-TL 18mm f/2.8 Asph Lens and not of Panasonic.
This is the patent of the optical formula of the Leica Elmarit-TL 18mm f/2.8 Asph, just compare example 2 and 3 from the patent (which are 18mm f/2.8s, only example 1 is an 18mm f/4):
with the Elmarit-TL:
It’s very logical. m4/3 is a dying system and sensors are stuck in a rut. Olympus should at least move to APS-C too if they don’t want FF. Sure Panasonic will support m4/3 for several more years but APS-C will replace it. They should use m4/3 for a niche where you can get a much bigger sensor than 1″ but the camera is barely much bigger. How about UW camera for a start.
Odin 🙂
I agree a lot with what you state, however, the part that “m4/3 is a dying system” is total rubbish and very highly misleading, not logical, and damaging to potential buyers of the system who may want to purchase a m4/3 camera, where is your proof that micro 4/3 is a dying system??? where have you read or interoperated this??? Panasonic and Olympus have just celebrated 10 years from when micro4/3rds was introduced in 2009, not bad for a system people like you thought or stated would die within a couple of years, Panasonic are highly committed to furthering the format for the foreseeable future to live along with full-frame and this possible upcoming new APS-C System, also Olympus is highly dedicated to furthering the format for the foreseeable future along with Black Magic, JVC, SHARP, and some major lens manufacturers etc!!
