According to a recent Canon Patent, we spotted, Canon’s upcoming Mirrorless cameras will use a smart display unit to save power consumption and to make the Mirrorless camera battery life a bit better.

To sufficiently reduce power consumption while a user checks an image to be photographed.SOLUTION: When a user refers to additional information displayed on a display unit, an imaging apparatus considers that the user does not have an intention to perform photographing, and reduces the frame rate and resolution of an image displayed on a digital camera. Even during the pan operation of the digital camera, when the user’s line of sight does not track a subject to be tracked, the imaging apparatus considers that the user does not have an intention to perform photographing, and reduces the frame rate and resolution of an image displayed on the digital camera.
