Nikon Coolpix is using approx 2+ year old APS-C sensor of Nikon D7000 and D5100 DSLR, on the other hand Sony uses newly developed 1 inch BSI CMOS sensor.

Price Difference: Nikon coolpix A will cost you $340 extra

Verdict:  If I need a pocket camera after my DSLR I will prefer Sony RX100 M2, I don’t see a big difference in image quality since Nikon is using a 2+ year old APS-C sensor compared to  Sony newly developed 1 inch Exmor R BSI CMOS Sensor. Finally the choice is your’s, we have done enough work to find the major difference between both the camera.

Sony Japan introduces three new Compact Camera TX55, WX30 and W550, Both the DSC-WX30 and DSC-TX55 features 16.20Megapixel ½.3 Exmor R BSI CMOS sensor, a 5x optical zoom, and WX30 have a 3” touchscreen and TX55 have a 3.3” OLED Touchscreen , Both new camera are capable to shoot photos in 3D as well as AVCHD full HD (1080/60i). The WX30 supports Memory Stick and SDXC cards while the TX55 supports only Memory Stick and MicroSDHC cards.

The WX 30 and TX55 also comes with Sony’s TransferJet Technology as well as being capable to shoot HD Video and Picture at the same time like Sanyo and Olympus Cameras.

The W550 features 14.10 Megapixel ½.3 Super HAD CCD sensor, 10x optical Zoom and a 3” Screen, the W550 supports SDXC support and it shoots videos in VGA 🙁

Sony Discloses Basic Specifications of the E-mount

Sony Corporation announced today it will disclose the basic specifications of its “E-mount” for interchangeable single lens cameras, without fee, to manufacturers of lenses and mount adaptors, starting April 1st, 2011.
This opens the way for manufacturers of various lenses and mount adaptors to effectively develop products conforming to “E-mount” specifications.
Users of the Sony’s “NEX-3”, “NEX-5”, “NEX-VG10” and other “E-mount” compatible Sony digital imaging products to be launched in the future will now be able to use interchangeable lenses from both Sony and various other manufactures, while they will also be able to attach non-Sony lenses to their Sony digital imaging products via a mount adapter.
Sony believes the growth of digital imaging products employing the “E-mount” will further increase the enjoyment of photography and video shooting among an even wider range of users.

These basic specifications will be disclosed to manufactures of lenses and mount adaptors following a predefined process of approval and the signing a license agreement with Sony.

As of today, the decision to disclose basic specifications of the “E-mount” has been endorsed by the following companies.
