According to latest rumors Olympus is testing a new type of PEN camera, the camera is rumored to feature a newly customized CMOS sensor with same size like the original film pens,
The pen line isn’t discontinued, rather it’s being taken back to it’s roots. One of the mockups has the sensor in a portrait orientation like the original film pens, the space saved by the shutter traveling sideways rather than vertically allowing a viewfinder above it (still in the center line of camera, which is hard to do with the vertical running shutter, almost all other mirrorless have the EVF on the left hand edge or a hump because of it).
But the source who published the information also suggest that the Olympus management may not approve the camera for final production because it’s too much “risk”.
Yes not only Ricoh was busy in talking about future products, Olympus did it too at the CP Plus 2013 trade show, you can see the the image above (evidence) of Olympus E-P3 successor (undercover) captured by DC Watch Impress.
The Olympus PEN E-PM1 and PEN E-PL3 are the micro-four-thirds cameras from Olympus. The E P3(see E P3 at DXOMark) is the flagship micro-four-third camera of Olympus, PEN E-PL3 is lighter and bit smaller compared to E-P3 and PEN E-PM1 (Mini), Mini is smaller and lighter compared to E-P3 and E-PL1, the most interesting part of the DXOMark test is all the three camera features same sensor score and lower Low-light ISO scores.

Low-light ISO scores are substantially lower (538) compared to cameras with the latest APS-C sensors (such as the Sony NEX C3 at 1083, more than twice as good).
Dynamic range does not improve as much as expected at low ISO (+1 Ev compared with the next ISO step).
The NEX C3 vs E PL3 at DXO Mark Lab, the Sony NEX C3 features bigger sensor, you get more dynamic range and double low-light ISO score for excellent low light performance.

Compact and stylish
Art Filters
Cons
Some AF quirks
Dense menu system
Still some LCD lag with art filters
What I hope could have been better in E-P3? Read this review at robinwong.blogspot.com and see sample images taken by the new Olympus E-P3 camera
1, Longer battery life For an advanced camera, the battery life is unacceptably short. On average, I could produce 350 shots with a single fully changed BLS-1, and that is NOT sufficient for my photography needs.
2. Tilt or Swivel Display Screen I shoot a lot of low angle and high angle shots and I really appreciate the flexibility of the dual axis swivel screen display of my E-5.
3. Larger grip for handling. Shooting whole day with the default supplied grip, I did feel strains on my wrists especially when I was handling larger lenses like the 75-300mm.
