After so many days of rumors Polaroid finally announced its first mirrorless camera, the camera core specification and body design look similar to Nikon J series camera, the press release don’t talk too much about specification but after reading it we know that the iM1836 camera features 18 megapixel sensor 1 inch sensor, android 4.1 OS, 3.5″ touch screen and a 10-30mm kit lens.
The other two are non-android camera mirrorless camera from Polaroid are iM1232W that features Wi-Fi and the iM1030 that doesn’t, both the camera have manual controls like others.

Today Polaroid confirmed to Imaging Resource that its Mirrorless interchangeable lens camera running on Android OS coming at CES 2013,
“There will be an Android powered, interchangeable lens camera introduced by Polaroid at CES 2013,” Scott Hardy, president and CEO of Polaroid told Imaging Resource in an emailed statement. “Additional information and specs will be released during the show.”
Rumors about Polaroid IM1836 Android Based Mirrorless started yesterday, according to the rumored specification the camera will have 18.1-megapixel sensor, Android 4.0 OS and 3.5-inch touchscreen.
If we take a look at last year CES, Polaroid introduced its SC1630 16 Mp compact camera based on Android OS but it is still not gone on sale.

Samsung is working on a Galaxy S III-based point-and-shoot camera, Samsung is planning to introduce a Galaxy S camera with 16 megapixel sensor, 10x zoom lens, a pop-up flash, large 4.8″ Super AMOLED screen and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich OS, Others features include WiFi and 3G connectivity (only mobile data, no voice).
This camera will expected to be announced at IFA 2012, alongside the Galaxy Note 2.
