Sony China teased today a new RX camera, most probably they will be releasing Sony RX10 V camera in the next few hours. Take a look at the announcement timeline of the RX10 Series camera which also suggests an update is likely to arrive in 2021

Sony was putting more attention towards the design and development of their Vlogging compact camera. As well as due to less demand in the global market the RX10 successor was delayed. As per the latest rumors we have this yea Sony will bring out Sony RX100 VIII and RX10 V in the 2nd half of 2021.

Cant wait much longer for the Sony RX10 V.
It is not that I want Sony to rush on a product, but I would like it before I Die and will be lucky if I have a few years left to play with it.
So many of my friends have asked me to let them know what I think of it when I have finally used it. Have tested the Mark 4 but not fully happy with a few items like battery capacity, maybe a USB 3.2 C type port for better file transfers (If lucky with Thunderbolt). I am happy with the 24 to 600 zoom if the resolution could be upped from the 21MP for better quality cropped images.
I am also waiting anxiously for RX10 V to replace my beloved RX10 III.
Please a prompt release…
Is there any site we can get more info about the rx10v? I currently use an older cybershot camera and waiting for 6months so far to upgrade to this one. Was thinking of the rx10iv but what i have found on the web suggest that it worths waiting. But whennn!? 🙁

Sony was busy with ZV1 announcement on 2020, let’s hope in 2021 they will update their RX100 VIII and RX10 V camera
Have tried the RX10 1V and am hugely impressed !! Early in the new year ,i will be in a position to update my camera and my wifes (both manic wildlife photographers ) and i am anxious to know WHEN OR IF there is going to be a Mark v version please !!!

Still waiting for the release of the 5 and it’s almost 2021
It is Now January 2021 and still no news about the progress on launch of RX10 mark 5 (RX10V). What is Sony waiting for, it obviously something very important, likely some development in one of the technologies used in the camera, if so I am happy that they are not pushing the design too fast. I am almost certain that it could be in their development of an even better sensor 6K/8K, and image processor. Cell phones are taking the amateur photographers away due mainly to intelligent automatic settings that don’t require a photographer to be a professional genius to get good photographic effects in sunsets or night shots. I bought a Sony point and shoot in Singapore when I left my Top End Canon equipment at home as did not want to travel with a case of lenses. My friend took his Top end equipment with him, and guess what I got a lot of better night shots and other shots that he could not get his lenses changed or setting done and missed the opportunities. And I still have it as a backup camera, its an DSC-HX9V and has not missed a good shot. So I just cant wait for the RX10 mark 5. Just hope it has fast wireless and fast USB 3.2 C connectivity for both Charge/Data transfer and Thunderbolt connectivity for use with display port instead of an HDMI connector. Apple has done that on its latest top end Laptops. Also hope Sony add HEIC/HEVC/HEIF data compression. This is unfortunately still not a standard but could keep it from becoming obsolete in the near future if certain licencing rights costs become open source the JPEG standard may change.

Is this just a rumour or is it fact, not happy to wait another year, I am getting too old and want to still do some photography as soon as lockdown is over.
Can someone inform me if there is another make of camera Nikon or Canon with similar or better technology and abilities as the RX10 m4 with same zoom and better battery and modern connectivity (not with Micro usb2 & micro HDMI or any other old tech connections) and id wireless possibly wireless 6. Also if Sony used a slightly larger sensor with say 8k ability they could keep the zoom to 24 to 600mm when using one inch of the sensor and for better quality stills use the full sensor only having half or even less zoom range with the higher pixel count. How about taking the current 1″ 20Mp sensor and enlarging the same specification to an almost full frame sensor. Then if the long range optical zoom is needed just use the 20Mp part of the sensor. One will have the best of both worlds.
If anyone knows of another bridge camera better than the Sony RX10 4 please lets hear of it please. Would like something with as many auto settings as possible like Focus and zoom bracketing as well as the normal aperture and shutter speed bracketing. I do a lot of night and sunset photography as well an indoor sports like Figure skating and Ice Hockey in both stills and video. Sometimes wild life and birds and even aircraft in flight. No Time to change lenses. Yes I can get good pics with my old equipment and multi lenses but loose out on special scenes even to cell phone users. Thanks
@Len Sony 3 cameras are already registered in wireless certification agency. So, they are planning to introduce 3 new camera in the year of 2021.
Now Sony A7 IV announcement is almost fixed with minimal core upgrade to protect the sales of A7s III.
Now about compacts, Sony RX100 VIII announcement is also almost fixed. And once they update the RX100 series camera, after few months of gap they will bring the new RX1 series camera or may be RX10 new model… I will post update here if I get any.
Any news please on the RX10 MK 5 , Have hung on for months but now into 2021 ,and need to buy new cameras . Looking to buy two cameras , cards ,spare batteries etc .
Very happy to have given up on the idea of ever owning an RX10 Mk 5. Sony’s policy of secrecy was no longer acceptable to me and I’ve been shooting with a different device for over 2 years now. Perhaps a slightly higher weight and slightly more expensive, but qualitatively at least equivalent or better. I advise you to do the same, an RX10 Mk V may never exist. Other companies are proud to announce a renewed product, at Sony they want to sell the “old stock” first. Shameless!
@John What camera/lens did you purchase instead of waiting for the Sony?
@Mike I went for a pre-ordered Nikon Z50 (never been disappointed by Nikon) with the new 16-50, 50-250 lenses combined with the FTZ lens adapter to use some of my old Nikon lenses. Never been disappointed by Nikon.(see review https://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/mirrorless/z50.htm)
