Let’s come down to earth and try to be realistic. If the FF Foveon sensor rumors are true, for this being a truly hybrid oriented product, how well could it (ever) do for video?
8K? Forget it.
Good 4K? Certainly no way.
Even just proper 1080p? Doubtful.
I don’t think this camera will have a Foveon sensor.. it could possibly as a stills camera, not as a hybrid. My bets are 99-1 that this will be no more less or no less than Sony’s 61MP a7RIV sensor “customized” for Sigma (whatever that marketing BS usually means), just as with the current Sigma FP that uses no more or no less than just Sony’s good-ol’ standard a7III 24MP sensor.
The cost for a company to customize a sensor is extremely high and only justifiable for guaranteed mass volume sales. An niche FP camera is NOT such a product. And as for Sigma producing a FF Foveon sensor that can in anyway compete for stills and video with current FF Bayer based sensors, that’s an absolute near impossibility. That, or Sigma will pull-off the biggest trick and market upset of it’s history.
