With the announcement of Nikon D550 DSLR Nikon also introduced the new 55-200mm zoom lens for the DX format line, The AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-200mm lens features three stops of VR image stabilization and improved design.
The new 300mm lens is 30% shorter and 1.5 lbs lighter than its predecessor, The small size of the lens is achieved with the help of Fresnel lens design, the technology is not new and Canon also used this technology in many of its DO Lenses.
Both lenses will be available in early February, with the AF-S DX NIKKOR 55-200mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR II priced at $349.95 and the AF-S NIKKOR 300mm f/4E PF ED VR at $1999.95.
Very nice to see some compact / APS-C lenses being offered by Nikon (Some others could learn from this – cough ).
Just to check, is either of these lenses by any chance weather sealed??
