Nikon finally announced the astronomical version of the Nikon D810 camera named D810A, the Nikon D810A camera is world first fullframe DSLR optimized to shoot Astronomical clouds / objects.

Difference between the Nikon D810A and Nikon D800 / other normal DSLRs is the camera is around four times more sensitive to long-wavelength red light than an ordinary DSLR. This can be achieved through more precise and modified IR-cut filter, the modification enables the camera to capture the Hydrogen Alpha spectral line (656nm). As we already know that clouds of Hydrogen gas that occur in emission nebulae, this modification may result a slight reddish ting while shooting ordinary images with Nikon D810A DSLR.

The Nikon D810A arrived with Long Exposure M mode that enables users to select a very wide range of shutter speed 4 to 900 sec (15 minutes), the camera also features a ‘astro noise reduction’ in Raw that keeps noise minimum while shooting stars.

The D810A will be available in late May, 2015 for $3,799.95.
