According to Film and Digital times Sony is planning to show the prototype of a new >4K motion picture camera at NAB 2011.
It doesn’t have a name yet, but instead of calling it the Next CineAlta Camera, let’s give it the working title of Cine Altissima. She is not a mere 4K motion picture camera. Behind the PL mount, there’s an 8K sensor: 8768 x 2324 pixel single CMOS sensor (that’s 20.4 Megapixels) — Super35 3-perf size, 16-bit RAW output, 16:8:8.
In normal mode, Sony 4K camera will shoot from 1-72 fps. In High Frame Rate mode 1-120 fps.
Samyang announced a new f/3.5 Fish-eye lens for Sony NEX-VG10 camcorder, the new 8mm f/3.5 Fish-Eye CS VG10 Manual Focus lens features the same Build Quality / optical construction as the still photography version, but in this lens the aperture can be easily and smoothly adjusted.

“Kraków, February 28 2011 – Delta company, the sole distributor of Samyang Optics for Poland and Europe, wishes to inform about the release of the manual Samyang 8mm f/3.5 FISH-EYE CS VG10 lens. The new lens comes with the bayonet mount and has been designed especially for Sony NEX-VG10 digital camcorder.
Due to its unique construction, the bayonet mount has been adjusted to ensure possibly wide field of vision without producing the vignetting effect. Just like in other lenses manufactured for filming purposes, aperture can be easily and smoothly adjusted.
New Samyang 8mm f/3.5 FISH-EYE CS VG10 lens will be officially introduced during the forthcoming Focus on Imaging fairs held in Birmingham. Exact date of the release as well as the product’s retail price will be given later. We are also about to introduce Samyang lens with Sony E mount for NEX system cameras.”
Sony develops a new generation of 17.7MP CMOS sensor that can “convert multiple pixels into signals simultaneously”, which results in a reduction of the conversion time by up to 75% when compared to existing sensors. The new sensor boasts a processing speed of 34.8Gbps (that’s up to five times faster than previous Sony sensors) and shoots video with 17.7MP at 120fps.
Both camera worked properly on Test 1,2,3 and 4.
Test 5 – 100cm : Side
NEX-3, due to the damage, the lens was not adjustable. When its power was on, the error message popped up.
However, NX100 worked properly when it was dropped vertically.
Sony (spain) officially announced that all its future Alpha DSLR (APS-C and Fulflrame) will have the Translucent Mirror Technology, The next camera in SLT format to be announced is A77 DSLR featuring 1080p video, 24 megapixels and high ISO capability.
The a55 and a33 used the technology, when light strikes the semi-transparent mirror, 70% go through it and 30% is deflected on the AF detection array.
Advantages: faster burst speeds upto 10 fps
Disadvantage: increases the noise level under low-light conditions.
