Leica X2 is really better than X1 or you should wait for Leica X3? see the core specification comparison table New Sensor: Leica X2 features High Resolution 16.2 megapixels APS-C sensor and approx 3 year old Leica X1 have 12.2 megapixels APS-C sensor. ISO range: Leica X2 features ISO range up to 12500, X1 is limited to 3200. Everything else remain the same including the price. Leica X2 announced on 10th May 2012 with a price tag of $1,995.00, with Leica X2 you get more resolution and High ISO range. We have done a short comparison review below of X2 with X1 and also included some High ISO images of both X1 and X2,

In an interview with British Journal of Photography and other UK-based photography magazines, Dr. Andreas Kaufmann, Leica ‘s head of supervisory board When asked if such a new camera could include HD OR FULL HD video features, Kaufmann said that
Leica X2 Digital Compact Camera comes with Leica Elmarit 24 mm f/2.8 Lens, 16.1 Megapixels APS-C sensor and ISO expandable up to 12,500. Leica X2’s offer full manual control and also features advance autofocus system, due large individual pixel on the sensor you get low image noise, a high dynamic range and accurate color differentiation. The crop factor of the sensor is 1.5 in comparison with 35-mm film format, meaning that the Leica Elmarit 24 mm f/2.8 ASPH. lens of the Leica X2 becomes a universal reportage lens with an effective 35-mm-equivalent focal length of 36 millimeters.
Leica finally announced its M Monochrom Digital camera with newly developed 18 megapixel full-frame CCD monochrome sensor, the ISO range is expandable u to 10,000, the M Monochrom features 4-bit uncompressed RAW mode, right-Line Frame Viewfinder, 2.5″ TFT LCD Display and SD/SDHC Memory Card Slot.
The M Monochrom comes with a price tag of $8,000(body only), you have to spend more on buying lenses, the best part of this camera is its dedicated B&W sensor that captures B&W images only, As the sensor does not ‘see’ colors, every pixel records true luminance values – as a result, it delivers ‘true’ black-and-white images that are significantly sharper than comparable exposures from a camera with a color-sensitive sensor.
