Samyang officially announced its first APS-C lens for Canon RF mount, and this starts a new partnership between the new-age Canon RF series cameras and Samyang, the lens maker. Canon will add 4K 120fps video recording capability to Canon R6 III as well as Canon R7 Mark II in 2025. According to the latest rumors, Canon is testing out the Canon R7 Mark II camera body prototypes, here is what surfaced over the web a while ago. “Despite the tech. designed to maintain DR and low-light performance, the sensor readout speed is impressively fast. With the Digic accelerator, it supports 4K at 120 FPS, but cropping happens in HQ mode. However, is that when you enable pixel binning, you can record 4K at 120 FPS without any cropping.”
One thing, if the above is true then the Canon R7 Mark II, without a doubt a video beast, even Sony FX30 does crop at 4k 120fps.
Stay tuned we will update you as soon as we get any new information

According to a recent interview published by Chinese media, Senior General Manager Zhang Hongtu of the Imaging Information Business Department of Canon China has indicated that Canon’s “Youth Dedicated Mirrorless” series is projected to account for over 60% of Canon’s total camera unit sales in China this year, based on a market sales forecast. This projection highlights Canon’s strategic focus on appealing to a younger, social media-savvy audience.
Canon’s micro audience, largely consisting of young content creators active on social media platforms, has shown a strong preference for compact, entry-level APS-C mirrorless options. These models, including the EOS R7, EOS R10, EOS R50, and EOS R100, are designed to support content creation on the go. This series alone is forecasted to comprise over 60% of Canon’s camera unit sales in China, underscoring Canon’s dedication to meeting the needs of China’s vibrant, young creator community.

Canon’s Game-Changing Firmware Update: Frame.io Cloud Integration is Coming! Canon’s C400 and C80 are ready to get their update soon, here is the press release
Canon collaborates with Adobe to bring native Frame.io Camera to Cloud integrations to select cameras
Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, is excited to announce a new collaboration with Adobe to bring Frame.io’s Camera to Cloud connectivity to select cameras, starting with the EOS C400 and EOS C80, enabling users to send proxy files directly from the camera for a faster and more secure path from production to post. The new feature, activated in-camera, will be included in a free firmware update scheduled for a Winter 2024 release from Canon USA. It will be available for download on the Canon USA Website.
The update supports simultaneous proxy file transmission to Camera to Cloud from the EOS C400 and EOS C80 cameras while recording original camera files (OCF) and proxy files internally. The proxy files can be sent over wireless or a wired Ethernet connection.
Canon’s proxy files match the same filename, timecode stream, and metadata fields as the original camera files, and are natively supported for playback on Frame.io. The efficient proxy files are available to view, share, and edit remotely without requiring additional processing or conversion. The proxy files can be uploaded to the cloud, automatically, allowing for a more streamlined workflow, with videographers in one location able to quickly share proxy files with their team in a separate location.

Canon R5C Mark II Early specifications surfaced over the web, there is a high probability these specs are of one of the EARLY PROTOTYPE of the upcoming camera, in genral a camera maker tests several prototypes of a high-end camera before the finalize the production line version. Take a look at the set of specs, of the upcoming Canon R5C Mark II camera
Canon R5C Mark II Rumored Specification
- Dual System Design with Active Cooling:
The Canon R5C Mark II will continue the “dual system” setup as we have seen in the original Canon R5C, where the camera can function as both a high-performance stills camera (like the R5) and a cinema camera (for video production). The mention of a “square, thickened active cooling body” indicates that the upcoming R5C II will have an enhanced thermal management system, likely allowing uninterrupted recording in every ALL available resolution of the camera.
- Introduction of SDI Interface: Now, that’s the most important part of the rumored specs we have read so far, the Canon R5C Mark II upcoming camera will use or have an SDI port. Again as per the source, the camera maker may swipe the HDMI in favour of SDI, or they may keep both as an option to the user. SDI is typically more reliable and provides better signal quality over longer distances, which is a common requirement in professional video setups.
- The 4K RAW Video Changes: No lower quality 4K SRAW (which was a lower-resolution form of RAW), but instead will feature a higher-resolution format: 4096×4320 pixels. This is a sub-pixel merging technique, which effectively produces a more detailed “native” 4K output by using higher-resolution data and downsampling it intelligently. This likely improves image quality in terms of sharpness and color accuracy.
- The 4K/24-60p YUV Video: Introduction of Custom Sensor READOUT speed pattern as per user requirement
The R5C II offers a YUV video format in 4K resolution, with two modes:
- High-Quality Mode (8192×4320 Sampling): Here, the camera samples from an 8K resolution (8192×4320) to produce a very detailed 4K output.
- High-Speed Mode (4096×4320 Sampling): This mode uses 4K footage but samples it horizontally rather than vertically. This adjustment could be aimed at optimizing performance while maintaining good color depth and resolution in YUV422 format (commonly used in professional video work).
Overall, if we look at the rumored set of core specifications, the Canon R5 Mark II camera features enhanced core specifications compared to the original Canon R5C, especially in terms of resolution and video output options.
