The big issue is that Canon is controlling the RF mount like an overly strict parent, dictating what you can and can’t do. I hope Canon understands that it’s time to let the mount be open and free, just like raising independent kids.
@arvindo
Canon’s decision to limit RF mount compatibility is their way of ensuring that only top-tier lenses are used by their customers globally. I believe they’ve made the right call by prioritizing quality over allowing cheaper alternatives.
Hope you understand this!!!

Its all about business my friend, third party lens makers do make awesome lenses
Fingers Crossed I am waiting for Canon R7 Mark II camera, perfect for shooting wildlife in 4k @ 120fps
@Steve
I am still using my old 3000D with 18-55mm kit lens, somehow collecting money to get the new Canon R100… don’t break my heart by writing these comments
I don’t remember exactly, but I recall Canon saying something along the lines of the R7 not being a successor to the 7D Mark II when it was released.
Perhaps because of this, or perhaps due to their consideration of the full-frame cameras around it, the R7 seemed to have a lower impact and price than I expected—whether that’s a good thing or not.
Will the next model become as popular as the R6 II or the Canon R8?
I really love the layout of the Canon R6 II, which has been now opted in R5 II.. let’s hope this time R7 II will have this goodness
These days, price increases are common among other companies, so I hope that even if the price goes up a bit, the above specifications will be acceptable to 7D Mark II users.
I mean to say Canon R7 Mark II users in the last line
I anticipate the upgrades will focus on reducing rolling distortion, enhancing the buffer, incorporating CFexpress support, and transitioning to a metal body. If feasible, I’d also appreciate the inclusion of FHD 240p. I’m excited about the potential improvements, though it seems the price may increased compared to the current model. Considering its current cost, an increase seems likely.
Exciting times ahead for Canon fans! The rumored specs for the Canon R7 Mark II show that Canon is listening to the community and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the APS-C market. With anticipated improvements in autofocus, sensor performance, and video capabilities, this could be a game-changer for hybrid shooters. If Canon nails the pricing, this might just be the APS-C camera everyone’s been waiting for. Can’t wait to see how it compares to the competition!
Remove that big wheel. Have a good wheel and joystick. Display on top always helpful.
R7 makes great images from a fine sensor. A faster readout speed that would be great and who wouldn’t like even better autofocus?
Things to develop are
1: A third dial so that shutter aperture and iso are controllable. (should have been in to start with)
2: Sort out the pre capture, one second duration and files direct to the card as standard CR3 files.
