Camera beta asked Canon will they open their RF lens mount, and the answer was really surprising I wasn’t expecting it from Canon,
Parts of the interview translated
In addition, everyone also asked Canon whether they will open the RF mount, and the answer they got was as follows:
Kazuka Yonei: Again, I can’t disclose the specific research and development plan for the future. In addition, although it is still limited to some special companies, Canon has also opened the RF mount to third-party lens manufacturers through licensing. Now if we receive a request from a third-party lens company to open the mount, we will study whether to license it according to Canon’s own business planning and strategy. In fact, we are now communicating with several third-party lens companies in this regard.
You also asked just now if we open the mount license, it means that our RF lens group is already complete. In fact, we have considered this issue separately. Whether to open the RF mount to third-party lens companies and whether Canon’s own product line is complete are two separate issues.
In fact, since the launch of the RF system in 2018, in order to meet the various levels of photography needs of customers, we have been constantly working on expanding our lens product line. Currently, we have 37 lenses. In order to maximize the advantages of the EOS R system and better meet the needs of customers in different photography fields, Canon will continue to strive to continuously enrich its lens product line in the future.

Total A-hole move, as usual, by Canon. I will never, ever again invest in Canon, with their insane draconian rules dictating that only some non-competitive alternative lenses will ever exist for their mounts. If a company refuses to compete on merit and quality, but instead tries to litigate away possible competitors, then you can be sure that they just try to milk you for every penny you have, while providing as low quality (i.e., cheaply produced, but highly priced) as they can get away with.
Canon wants high profit margin maybe from tamron and sigma, that’s why we are facing such delay
