Sony A9 III, Sony A1 and Sony A7S III to get an in-camera signature and C2PA authentication to fight against AI-generated images, back on Nov Sony confirmed that they are in the second phase of the trial for adding the in-camera signature and C2PA authentication, now they have completed the testing and a major firmware update on its way for Sony A9 III, Sony A1, and Sony A7S III, the firmware will enable to add digital signatures to their images and videos. The update will arrive in Spring of 2024 (before June) Hence Press agencies and stock websites will prefer images captured from a camera where they can easily find out about the authenticity of the image, it will help to distinguish between a real and AI-generated image very easily.
Not only are Sony, Canon, and Nikon actively working on this tech, but Canon and Nikon will add in-camera digital signatures starting in 2024 in their professional bodies.
