Breaking News: Insta360 Luna Ultra Support Detachable Remote Screen and Controllers – Confirmed

Finally, we have confirmation of a new feature of the upcoming Insta360 Luna camera, and the best part is that the entire controller part, as well as the screen of the Luna, can be detached from the main camera and can be used as a remote display unit with controls for capturing your favourite shots or self videos from a distance. That’s a breakthrough technology that we have seen for the first time in any pocket camera that is present in the market so far.

Yes, DJI has introduced the new Frame Tap in their Mobile 8P gimbal, which also supports sync with pocket cameras, and it has been announced recently, but for the first time, Insta360 is introducing this in their pocket series camera, and in that, they are integrating a remote display unit with controls, which is really a very applicable thing for sure.

What the Leaks Show About the Detachable Handle

The Insta360 Luna Ultra consists of two separate pieces that magnetically connect via multi-pin connectors:

  • The main gimbal camera body (white or black “Panda” edition) with lenses, 3-axis stabilisation, primary battery, and sensors.
  • The detachable handle/controller that doubles as a wireless remote with:
    • Built-in colour touchscreen showing live view, 4K•30 recording info, zoom, and settings
    • Physical controls, including a prominent red record button, joystick, directional pad, and function buttons
    • Status LED and full wireless pairing capability

Now you can turn your ultra-compact gimbal body into a remote-controlled recording device, where you can easily sit and record, which is really very helpful. When you are self-recording your videos, specifically in restaurants and dining spaces, where you are a bit away from your camera, and the camera is placed on a gimbal or tripod, it’s not always easy to frame yourself since you are not looking at the display of the camera. But when you have the remote controls and the display in your hand, it makes even recording from the camera buttery smooth.

Retail Box Leak Adds Final Confirmation

The best part is that there is not a single leak – multiple social media accounts confirm the split-screen design (what they are calling it), specifically those belonging to Chinese social media platforms like Weibo, and some popular influencer handles on Twitter, are sharing the latest images of the Insta360 Luna, showcasing the wildest possibilities for a handheld gimbal camera.

Just hours after the @D2Help posts, retail packaging images (first reported by Notebookcheck) further confirm the feature. The box explicitly lists:

  • “Detachable magnetic remote with integrated OLED display, joystick, and dedicated record button”

This is not just a flip-out screen — the entire handle detaches and works independently.

The Luna Ultra’s modular approach gives creators far more flexibility than the fixed-body DJI Pocket series — exactly why this feature is generating massive buzz.

Insta360 Luna Ultra Key Specs (Latest from Leaks)
