Fuji X-T2 vs X-T1 – AF analysis
AF System: If we look at Fuji X-T2 camera then it features advance AF system compared to X-Pro 2 camera. The Fuji X-T2 uses 325 points, these AF points covers up 50% of the width and 75% of the height of the imaging area. Hence the user of the camera get compositional freedom and able to lock down AF without having a second thought. Fuji also added a new and improved Continuous AF algorithm to the X-T2 camera and the Cont. AF modes have been seriously upgraded. With the help of new algorithm you can track and lock AF on moving subjects more quickly and accurately.
The Fuji X-Pro 2 has 273 AF points, out of 273 77 are Phase AF points and approx 40% of the imaging area is covered by AF points. It also gives you compositional freedom but not as much as Fuji X-T2 gives.
The shutter speed and the continuous shooting speed of both the camera is same, however the X-T2 features advance AF alogrithm which will be soon added to X-Pro2 also via a firmware update.
Fuji X-T2 vs X-Pro 2 Video
Video The X-T2 camera is capable to record 4K videos at an excellent 100 Mbps bitrate, you will be surprised to know that while recording 4K video the camera uses a 5120 x 2880 sample of the sensor that is 1.8x more resolution than the UHD 4K frame, ensuring maximum resolution and detail is provided to user. The 4K video can be recorded for 10min internally and if you use external battery grip recording time touches the limit of 30 mins. Additionally the camera supports F-Log Gamma setting that provides a flat picture for use in advanced color grading software during editing.
Fuji X-Pro2 remains limited to Full HD video recording only.
Verdict: Fuji X-T2 is one of the best mirrorless camera Fuji ever built, the camera features newly developed AF system and advance AF algo to improve the continuous tracking speed. The X-T2 also offers 4K video recording with F-Log gamma.
We highly recommend you to get Fuji X-T2 camera, is bit affordable than X-Pro 2 and feature advance core specification.
My understanding is that F-Log only works through the HDMI port when recording 4K externally and not when recording 4k internally to the card….if True you…and other early reviewers… probably need to say that…
@Crinosil
Agree
Fuji working on a Firmware update to enable internal F-log recording.
Have it from Sept 21 trying to figure out all
I have also Mark III 5D with all is needed for good shooting
So far I like this little camera. The only problem finding now : battery is loosing power so fast. Canon let me shoot much much longer. I have X-T2 set for energy saving but still … do I have faulted battery?
A lot to learn and get use to
