I told Canon that big things are coming from Sony.
But the stupid decision makers from Canon decide to put only a 5D Mark III with a different sensor, an anti shake system an some marginal updates on the market. The 5Ds(r).
I have almost all Canon lenses and can’t go away completly from Canon. It’s time that the stupid Canon decision makers and all person in charge that developed the 5DS(r) lose their jobs.
Little hint:
Canon is working since a long time on an back-illuminated 35mm FF sensor.
Expect this type of technology in the next pro camera bodies (1D X Mark II and 5D Mark IV).
My advise: Don’t buy a 5DS(r) yet. Wait for the upcoming pro camera bodies and decide then. Even at higher ISO’s the IQ is much better and the upcoming cameras are much faster.
My prototypes don’t have 4K video in it. But after the new A7r camera hit the market Canon can’t put a camera on the market without 4K video.
The A7r II shutter is designed for 500.000 cycles. The 5DS(r) / 5D Mark III shutter only up to 150.000 cycles. That is even more than the 1D X shutter cycle. In my eyes the 5DS(r) is not made for professional photographers. But no hobby photographer really need 50 megapixels.
I guess that Canon don’t will have big success with the 5DS(r) cameras. They are outdated long before they hit the market and too expensive for that what you get.
Nice samples – thanks. Could you please post links to the full size images?
@Marcus you do know that there are adapters that let you use your Canon lenses on the Sony A mount
@Marcus: I’ve also invested heavily in Canon gear but if not Canons upcoming 5DIV offers something extra compared to my current 5DIII I am seriously considering the A7R II combined with this adapter from Metabones:

The 5DsR also looks nice but compared to the A7R II … not impressed!!
