Thanks for such a great article, I will follow your recommendation to buy new lenses.
I am surprised each time when lenses, for a particular camera, are recommended, as only the camera manufacturer’s own lenses are ever mentioned, the rest are evidently just non-existing?!
Take the D600, which I happen to own. A useful camera, a bit cheaper than other FF cameras, and there are lots of lenses to choose from, but not only lenses made by Nikon!!! Where are the Tamron, the Sigma, the Tokina lenses, the SLR Gear & the Voitlander lenses (to mention a few manufacturers that make lenses that work very well with my D600.
The only site I can remember right off, that breaks this golden rule, is Steve Huff’s. Why not Ken, New Camera, Compact Camera, DPReview or …?!
Photozone.de does test some unusual mixes, that’s true, forgot them!
I have mostly Nikon lenses for my D600, but with my V1 I use a mix of brands, and the best lens I have, in many respects, is Sigma 70 macro. A little slow-focusing, but utterly, utterly, sharp!
We recommend Nikon lenses because they are widely available + the customer service is excellent, Tamron and Sigma doesn’t cover the Asian countries, If someone ask for affordable or third-party solution, we will sure recommend Tamron and sigma lenses.
