Wild Rumors: Sony FX30 II, Sony FX30 R and Sony ZV-E1 II Coming in 2025

I will put this post in the wild rumors category, the source again arrives with a new name so take everything a grain of salt. But, the information he shared looks legit to me so I have decided to share

Source Said – Sony R&D Team is way more serious about dedicated video cameras, they will shorten the update cycle even for the high-end cameras. First, of all news related to Sony ZV-E1, the update will arrive next year, It is coming a bit early to improve the heat sink mechanism of the camera, So it may be termed as Sony ZV-E1A not exactly the Sony ZV-E1 II

Sony ZV-E1 A OR Sony ZV-E1 II

If everything goes to schedule the ZV-E1A will arrive next year, with an improved heat sink mechanism

Specs-wise we are not able to sport any difference as of now, but it’s a major update to upscale the heatsink of the camera

Sony FX30 II / Sony FX30 mark II, scheduled to arrive in 2nd half of 2025 or the first half of 2026, this time AI chip will be introduced inside the camera to upscale its existing capabilities

Expansion of Sony FX30 Series, introduction of 8K capable Sony FX30 R Camera

Now, the reason why we have kept this entire rumor in the WILD category is due to this camera, an 8K capable Sony FX30 Camera with a 40MP APS-C CMPS Sensor, that sounds more like a Sony Fanboy wishlist, but this exists in Sony RoadMap and according to the new source is everything goes as per schedule and market demand kept raising, Sony will expand its FX30 Series too just like they did with the Sony A7C series

Sony FX30 R Specifications

  • 40.2 MP APS-C BSI CMOS Sensor
  • 8K 30p, 4K 60p, FHD 240p
  • 10-Bit 4:2:2 XAVC S-I,16-Bit Raw Output
  • No Mechanical Shutter

  • AI-Based Real-Time Tracking AF System
  • 8-Stop 5-Axis Pixel-Level Image Stabilization

The FX30 II / R camera will arrive in the first half of 2026.

So, these are the initial set of specs of to-be-announced Sony Cameras. Take it with a big grain of salt since the source is new, but the information looks good to me, so I have decided to share.

@Arvindo A rep from Sony informed me a month ago about the dates May 21-22. However, he is in dormant mode now / offline, so I cannot verify this information.

I’ve noticed that SAR has a habit of initially disagreeing with Thenewcamera.com information, but then confirming it after about four months. This has happened quite a few times. Hats off to the admin for keeping up with this! By the way, if you’ve heard anything new about the Sony A7 5, I’d love to hear it!
