Sony A7 and A7R Light Leak Issue

Lightleak

Image credit: John Triebe (dpreviewforum member)

Some of A7 and A7R users talking about Light Leak problem through the lens mount, To test it you have to put the lens cap on and set the ISO range at 16000 / 256000 and set the shutter at 30 sec, finally shine flashlight around the lens mount, if you camera does have problem your image will show light leak. That light leak also means the models are not completely weather-sealed and will grab dust and moisture inside the system..

Take a look at some users comment

LarryMarshall said : As the owner of two A7R’s, this is very concerning. I tested mine and I have the same issue. I had four of my friends test theirs as well….they also had the same problem. I made two calls today and talked to Sony reps about this issue. They seemed unconcerned which was shocking! Can we be kept up to date with the progress of this issue here, or another site?

But keep in mind that the problem is limited to a particular batch of cameras since many users (including TheNewCamera Users) didn’t find such problem in A7 and AR, please send us emails at contact[at]thenewcamera.com if you see any problem in your models.. we will publish it in our website.
