Canon R1 Press Release | Major Features

We have the Canon R1 flagship camera officially arrived. The camera features a 24-megapixel stacked CMOS sensor and a maximum continuous shooting speed of 40 frames per second. We can see some major upgrades from the Canon R3 camera, but more or less, it doesn’t directly compete against the Nikon Z9 and the Alpha A1.

Instead of naming this camera R1, it’s better to name it Canon R3 Mark II considering the level of updates and the set of specifications we are getting. It’s very similar to the existing R3 camera with a significant upgrade loaded over it.

Overall, it’s an excellent camera for photojournalists as well as sports shooters. But for wildlife photographers, the R5 Mark II is more recommended, as well as for professional wedding, portrait, and fashion photographers, and even for landscape and street style shooters. The R1 camera approach remains limited to photojournalists as well as sports shooters.

We got a R1 that is more like a R3 Mark II and a R5 Mark II with all the specs the R5 should have four years ago. Beside an BSI Sensoren with no Blackout, no overheating, but not perfect Images again with the electronic Schulter. No improvement for photographers and again a lousy battery life. What the hell has Canon eine in the last years?
