Tamron 20-40mm F2.8 VXD Lens Press Release

New large-aperture standard zoom lens proposed by Tamron – Smallest and lightest *1) design for comfortable video shooting 20-40mm F/2.8 Di III VXD (Model A062)

20-40mm F/2.8 Di III VXD (Model A062) Overview

The Model A062 is Tamron’s new large-aperture standard zoom lens for Sony E-mount cameras compatible with full-size mirrorless interchangeable-lens cameras. Starting with an ultra-wide angle of 20mm and covering up to the standard range of 40mm, it is the smallest and lightest in its class*1. Beautiful images are achieved throughout the entire zoom range, and it is useful not only for still image shooting but also for video shooting such as Vlog. The AF drive employs a silent and agile linear motor focus mechanism VXD (Voice-coil eXtreme-torque Drive) to achieve high-speed, high-precision AF. Furthermore, with a minimum focusing distance of 0.17m at the wide-angle end and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:3.8, close-up capabilities are excellent, enabling wide-angle macro-like shooting.
The Model A062 is a new, large-aperture standard zoom lens that allows you to easily bring it out and enjoy shooting both still images and movies.

Main features
1. Smallest and lightest in its class F2.8 through large aperture standard zoom lens covering 20-40mm
The Model A062 is Tamron’s new large-aperture standard zoom lens that pursues a compact size that makes it easy to carry around. While achieving a large aperture of F2.8 over the entire zoom range from 20mm to 40mm, it is 86.5mm long and weighs 365g, making it the smallest and lightest lens in its class.
The telephoto end covers up to a standard range of 40mm, which is convenient for everyday use, such as snapshots, portraits, and table photos. On the other hand, by setting the wide-angle end to 20mm, you can enjoy a wide range of shooting, such as spectacular and powerful natural scenery that makes the most of perspective, which cannot be achieved with conventional large-aperture standard zoom lenses starting at 24mm.

2. Comfortable video shooting such as Vlog and selfie
