Nikon D850 - World First DSLR to Score 100 points

Nikon D850 DXO Lab image

Whoa! Nikon D850 has become world first DSLR to score 100 Marks  in DXO Lab exam. Check below what DXO experts have to say about the test

“The introduction of the first BSI sensor in a full-frame Nikon DSLR with a super-high 45.7Mp resolution puts the Nikon D850’s image quality on par with, and often better than, medium-format cameras. The first DSLR to hit 100 points — rather apt for Nikon’s hundredth anniversary year — puts the Nikon D850 in a class of its own for image quality. At base ISO, it’s unrivaled for color in the DSLR class, and its headline dynamic range score is outstanding, too. Against the competitor high-resolution options from Sony and Canon, the D850 offers either better or close to comparable image quality throughout the ISO range. Although its headline ISO score doesn’t quite achieve the same lofty heights overall, it’s still a very capable performer at high ISO sensitivities, too. So if you’re looking for the best image quality at low ISOs, at significantly less cost than a digital medium-format camera, the Nikon D850 looks like the camera you’ve been waiting for.”

No other camera (including Medium Format) ever scored 100 points on DXO Mark test. I think they have to raise the bar of numbers when Nikon will bring out Nikon D900.

While DxO rates the Nikon D850 as the best camera on the planet, consider this: They rank it well below the slow Nikon D800 for sports — even below the 12 megapixel Sony A7S2. For portrait work, they rank the D850 as #2 behind the Phase One IQ180. Wow! You’ll have to drop down to #44 to find the next Phase One. And ranked above that 39-megapixel midframe, you’ll see 3 Sony APS-C, 5 Nikon APS-C and a couple of 4/3rds cameras. Just 2 weeks ago, DxO’s own little OnePlus would ranked above most of the Phase Ones and Hasselblads for portrait work. Nope, it doesn’t make good sense to talk about DxO rankings without a page-full of footnotes.

Junk numbers, it’s a good camera but 100 marks is a marketing thing

I stopped playing attention to DXO cooked scores long time since they put their own Mickey Mouth device above many decent cameras. It just getting more ridiculous now why DXO “scores” used as a point of reference?!
