Leica S3 Coming on September 2014

According to recent (almost confirmed) rumor Leica S2 successor, Leica S3 coming on this yearโ€™s Photokina expo in Germany (September 2014) with a newly developed 40-50MP CMOS sensor and will also capture 4K video.

The most important thing is the recently announced Hasselblad H5D-50c, Phase IQ250 and Upcoming Pentax 645D II camera uses Sony made Medium format Sensor with 50 Megapixel resolution, so there is a strong possibility that Leica will also use Sony sensor in its upcoming S3 Medium Format Camera.

[Update] The Price is rumored to be around $20K-24K.

  • The Leica S3, as its called, is already out…but its called the Leica S….it succeeded the Leica S2 last year. It has the same sensor MP sensor, with a newer focusing upgraded system and a few other nice features as well as the additional thumb stick on the rear of the body and a second card slot for an SD card…..

    How do I know…..I own one and shot one of the Ad campaigns for Leica UK when they first came out. ๐Ÿ™‚

    It was just named the Leica S and not the S3….I guess this new beast with a 40-50 MP sensor is something else. ๐Ÿ™‚
